Trouble Maker (Includes Download) Rancid as a band have always been imbued with a sense of place: the blue collar neighborhoods where they grew up in Berkley, California, their place as individuals within their band, their band as part of a movement and their evolving sense of place in relation to the world at large. This year Tim Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Matt Freeman (bass, vocals), Lars Frederiksen (vocals, guitar), and Branden Steineckert (drums) return with their ninth studio album... Trouble Maker. Born in the midst of the post-Reagan economic downturn in the San Francisco Bay Area, the East Bay region specifically, Rancid came to light as Armstrong and Freeman were moving forward after the first band they founded, Operation Ivy, reached a friendly demise. As Rancid, the band took up the torch of social commentary and the examination of the local scene and instantly inflamed the newly revived punk community, setting the stage for what was to come. After having seen the American dream dwindle and fade within their country, community and homes, Rancid put their description of it's aftermath into their songs. Each album served as a layer cementing Rancid's natural place in punk. Their lyrical themes established their identity in the punk rock world while musically they incorporated horns, rockabilly bass lines, reggae rhythms, rasp, and distortion. Balancing their personal tales of love, loss, and heartbreak with attitude, Rancid gave their listeners a community. Over the past 2 decades, Rancid has shown awareness of their changing environment and have established their place in it, all while never losing sight of themselves as individuals or as a band.

this might be their best record yet
this might be their best record yet.full of the hooks you've come to expect from Rancid, this record has a very personal feel to it, too.an obvious homage to their community in the East Bay and their roots as punk rockers.standouts: Buddy, Where I'm Going, Telegraph Avenue, Bovver Rock and Roll.

Buy it.
I love everything about this album start to finish. Rancid returns to the ...And Out comes the wolves punk/ska story telling of what it was like growing up as an LA street punk.

Nothing new here but nothing disappointing either
Maybe slighty better than honor is all we know. At this point rancid fans should know what to expect. It's a formula that works. And while it's not suprising or new it is still a good formula. This one isn't As hardcore punk as the 2 ST, not as experimental as life won't wait, not as poppy as indestructible or dominoes, not as good as let's go or wolves. It's a mix of everything they've done. If you enjoy most of their other albums this one is worth getting. I buy every album they make. Same with the drop kick murphys at this point. They have it down to a specific sound and formula. Again if you like that formula then it's great. It won't win any new fans and it won't top their previous best albums. But in a world where music is manufactured by computers no matter the genre, it's nice to hear Tim and the boys put out something. What we need Tim is a psychical format release of your Tim timebomb recordings. Put them in a box set or something. I'd buy it.

The boys are back
One of their best albums not just in years, but entirely. Varied high energy punk and ska without being too preachy. Catchy lyrics and amazing riffs scattered through the whole thing. Hard to believe all these years later rancid is still bringing their A game.

I think the reviews for this record played it up. I have been a fan of this band since their first 7 inch record on LOOK OUT RECORDS. up until thisalbfast shipping, item as described. album was a lot more hype than most reviewers said .i have been a fan of this band since their first 7 inch record on LOOKOUT RECORDS. is this the same band from the east bay I have listened to for all these years?. I know it is and that's what bothers me. without a doubt, its their weakest album.

Simplesmente maravilhoso

Fantastic record!
Another great release by Rancid. Each record has been different and this one is no different. Energy is high on this record and the songs just beg to be played over and over again. This LP pressing I received was well done. Sound is clear and warm.
