Works effectively
I was looking for a product that I could use to refill my Damprid containers with. This works well.

Cheaper alternative to prepackaged pouches
I had run out of the prepackaged moisture packets that go into the plastic moisture absorbing containers. For whatever reason, the refill packets were no longer sold, only the plastic containers that had one packet per container. Not wanting to treat the containers as disposable plastic items, I thought of buying these loose moisture absorbing beads and creating my own refills. Since the beads are loose and not in a pouch, I carefully laid paper towel strips over the large holes in the strainer device that separates the bead/pouch upper section from the water/liquid capture section. Then carefully poured some beads on the paper towel and carefully placed it in the closet. You don’t want to leave this in a place where pets or kids can get to it since the beads are not contained in an enclosed pouch. But once they absorb a certain amount of liquid, it’ll form a harder cake that is stable. As the cake shrinks as moisture is absorbed and liquid is created below, you can more easily remove this layer, empty the liquid, put the layer back on top, and pour more loose beads on top.Since the liquid reservoir is now empty, you won’t have to touch it for awhile, so putting more loose beads to refill your media means that once you get it back in the closet or wherever it’s going to sit, you won’t have to worry about it for awhile and the hard/stable cake will form again.Very economical. Honestly, if they sold some loose knit cloth bags to hold the loose beads, that’d be even better. Or you could create paper towel or tissue ones and just tape the seams to form a pouch. As long as moisture can flow out of it. But since ours go in closets where nothing will disturb them, the loose beads work fine for us.
