Saved my Floors, but be careful with the glue!
Background: I have a 90lb yellow lab who is 9 years old and no longer very active. I ordered these nail caps as I was moving into a new place with hardwood floors.Upon receiving these nail caps, I was a little nervous about putting them on my dog. The package comes with 40 nail caps, so I wasn't worried about having to chuck one or two in case I had made a mistake of sorts. The nail cap is actually not at all what I had pictured - it is a fairly rigid rubber cover for each nail - flat on the sides and bottom of the cap and looked fairly large for my dog's nail. He has large nails to begin with even though I did grind them before I put on the nail cap.The instructions were fairly simple - drop some glue in the nail cap and slide each cap on your dog's nail. While the instructions stressed not to put too much glue, it was difficult to see how much glue was actually going into each nail cap (my nail caps were black). The glue included is about the size of a small super glue bottle. I did make the mistake of putting too much glue in a few nails - how did I know? I ran out of glue once I was done putting all 20 caps on him, and now no longer have any glue left for the remaining 20 nail caps. Ever since he was a puppy, my dog has been accustomed to me handling his paws along with cutting and grinding his nails, so it was easy for me to put each nail cap on him. If you have a fussy pet, you may want to get the treats out!Once all nail caps were on, my dog had no problems walking around with it, but if your pet isn't used to things on his paws (booties, socks, etc.), it could take a while for them to get a bit used to it, so sit back, relax and watch the hilarious show unfold!!! My dog got up with no problems - he has pretty bad arthritis and has a hard time standing up, but thankfully, these didn't complicate things any further. Again, my dog isn't very active so the nail caps lasted more than a month, but will likely be a lot less for younger, and more active pets. I would recommend these nail caps as they are relatively inexpensive, last a long time, and have saved my floors!IMHO there are a couple of drawbacks: #1 Again, the amount of glue provided, and not knowing how much glue is "too much" and not being able to see how much glue I'm putting into the nail cap (this probably wouldn't be an issue with smaller nail caps). The removal is difficult - as some of the nail caps started to come off, I've noticed that others were taking an extremely long time to fall off - to the point where I was concerned about his nail becoming overgrown underneath. I've read articles that state that once the bottoms of the cap have been worn to the point where there is now a hole in it, the nail caps will fall off naturally afterwards. However, this didn't happen with some of his nail caps. I assume this is where I had probably put a bit too much glue. I was scared to hurt him by pulling them off myself and had to pay additional fees for his groomer to remove them for me.I have ordered additional glue (make sure that you get non-toxic ones!) and am currently trying to put a lot less glue to prevent any issues with the nail caps naturally falling off in the future. Overall, I'm satisfied with these nail caps and would recommend them to anyone who wants to save their hardwood floors.

Great for dogs w/ Giant nails!
So glad to find the jumbo size caps! I have a yellow lab who drags his back toes when he walks. It's to the point the 2 middle nails on his back left paw have rubbed so far down they bleed. So, we started capping the nails on his back paws. The largest caps we found at the pet store was for 40lb dogs. They were too small & kept popping off. These are for 70lb + dogs and fit his giant nails great! The caps stay on the nails that don't drag for several weeks. The caps at least provide a buffer to keep the nails from bleeding. We have to replace the caps on these 2 nails every week or so because they get rubbed through.**Update** We've stopped using the caps. With the dark color cap, I had trouble telling how much glue was in it. Too much? Too little? It was hard to tell. That's not why we had to quit using them though. The nails are worn so low that we had to trim the cap super short which doesn't leave room for glue. The glue would ooze out & create irritation to his skin. Also, the glue was essentially right against the quick of the nail which I thought was probably a bad idea. We've had to move on to a protective boot (purchased on Amazon) to keep those nails from bleeding. Really a good product for protecting hardwood floors, etc though.

Saved the wood floors!
We have a rhodesian ridgeback and new wood floors. This dog is pretty calm, but even with walking slowly around the house, he was constantly scratching the floors. Even though we thought putting fake nails on a dog was a very silly idea, we could not allow the damage to progress any longer. The installation went very well, and our dog did not even seem to notice the new nails. They were a bit shiny at first but with a bit of use they lost their luster and look pretty natural now. In about 2 weeks, he only lost 1, but he ground the other ones down and through. No more scratches, though and it has helped him against slipping. What a relief! We will get more. They are a good price. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I am worried about how I am going to take those out. He has one more week to go, but the nails don't show any sign of coming off on their own. If I have to grind those down with the dremmel tool, that's going to be an issue. But maybe I'll just put less glue next time.

Works perfectly!
My senior drags one of his back feet sometimes and has worn down the nail. It has to be painful and my house looked like a bloody horror scene! These caps worked wonderfully to fix the problem! I only use them on that one nail. It stays on for several weeks. By the time the cap falls off on its own, the nail has grown out and he can go a week or two before the nail is getting short again and time to apply a new cap. I had originally ordered the next smaller size which would fit his other nails but I didn't take into account that I would be cutting the cap so short and the tapered end of the cap wasn't large enough for the base of his nail. These are very easy to cut to the correct length and very durable. There is a fine line between enough and too much glue. My guy has short hair but I would recommend trimming toe hairs if using on a longer haired dog.
