Excellent Overview of Historical Deception/OPSEC
Excellent overview of the complexities and nuance involved in the design and execution of large scale deception campaigns and the associated operations security challenges. While some will quibble with regards to artistic license and prose, and while there are a few instances where there is evidence that the author has gotten it not quite right, the book does an excellent job of familiarizing the reader with the primary effort to hide the place and nature of the Normandy landings. He also places this operation in the context of the larger war effort in Europe.

Well-referenced spy history
The author looks at the deceptive planning processes of the Normandy Invasion at the latter part of WWII. As it is extremely well-referenced, it makes for an educational as well as an enjoyable read especially for those interested or drawn to spy "stuff". All students of D-Day should read!

Reads like fiction
There was a lot behind the Normandy invasion and how it all came together than you would realize. So many mis-steps, espionage, mistakes, crazy mis-communication all hard to believe. We think of the Normandy invasion as the allies invading the northern coast of France but it was much more than that.

Simply excellent!
Very well written with a plethora of little-known facts. Breuer uses small chapters constructing the big view of the D-Day deception operations in a fascinating way, making the book to be read like a thriller. No major mistakes are included in the military aspects of the subject (like the commanding officers, the allied and german orders of battle etc.) while a lot of interesting information is presented in a marvellous way. Especially enjoyable are the many interesting details of the personalities involved.

purely fictional entertainment
This book is just another attempt at selling interesting sounding ,far-fetched assertations. They are many gross mistakes not only in the text, but also in the illustration captions. For instance, one of his captions claims that hitler predicted the Normandy landing at Pas decalais, instead of Normandy. The fact is hitler did indead predict Normandy, while others did not share in his view. Also,a Skorzeny attempt at killing Roosevelt.Hoodwinking hitler makes a great fictional novel based on real people, but it's research and historical accuracy lack.
