Laugh out loud hilarious & a tad surreal at times. Genius.

Typical of Spike, this is a very funny book. The 5 stars though is for Awesome books. It's condition had been described as very good, but in actual fact it looks virtually brand new. It also arrived several days before the estimated date. Very happy.

Milligan was a genius, but not to all tastes

A bit disappointing,,a few funny bits but not enough

As always, the humour will not be to everyone's taste, but if you're a fan and especially if you're not easily offended by the Bible being taken apart so ruthlessly, you'll enjoy this. Spiked, (geddit?), with Milligan's musings on how the Holy book SHOULD have been written, it's a non-stop mickey take. I always found The Goons to be a bit hit and miss, but Spike on his own? Fantastic. Get this, you'll laugh all the way to Bethlehem.

After a church service, warning us about reading the false word of God. I searched for the bible, on my Kindle. When I found this book, by SM, I had to tread it, as he is a God,of comedy. I've now been inspired to go on and read the Old Testament.

As a parody, it started off well, with the Creation, but after a few repetitions the same joke (and not a very PC one by modern standards) gets rather stale. Spike seems to have run out of material long before he got even a quarter of the way into the Old Testament.

I am a long time American Milligan fan. I had to give up my book collection of his memoirs, poetry and Goon scripts when I had to suddenly move to assist my aging parents and I couldn't afford to take them with me. Recently I needed a Spike fix. I found this book was available used/cheap and so I took the gamble. I couldn't have been more pleased! I am a non-practicing Jew, so the Bible is not something I have read. This is the way to do it! I admit there are many British references I don't get, but that's a small price to pay for a hearty laugh!! I miss you Spike and hope Heaven is a better place having you there!
