LG LW1216ER Window-Mounted AIR Conditioner with Remote Control, 12,000 BTU 115V (Renewed)

Bought this 12,000 BTU unit refurbished (Planet73) at a savings of $65 off new. Arrived quite quickly with packaging in good condition—impressive for a 75 lb unit. On initial unpacking, noticed the back radiator fins were a little smooshed and the bottom corners of the front grille were both substantially cracked. Not structural but irritating. Much more irritating were the noises of the back fan apparently catching the housing as I turned the unit on outside its intended location and a manual having little relevance to the model sent to me. But after wasting a 1/2 hour trying to decipher the guide included with it, I downloaded the correct manual from LG, making a huge difference. Even this can be deceptive, though: there are several places where the manual is abysmally poor. The bottom guides for instance are impossible to fit properly from the manual—you need to look up a helpful video on this from a dude on YT. Likewise, you’ll need to read the manual carefully when hanging this unit. Unlike most smaller window A/C units, you will need to remove the grille (remove filter, then two screws behind it, then disconnect the wiring harness by pressing in the little tab on top of the plug with a screw driver), the four packing screws, and then slide the guts out the front. That can be tricky, too—just be patient but firm. You’ll hang the cabinet which actually is easier than dealing with traditional installs where you have to deal with all the weight. The bolts that came with the sill brace were too short for my windows, but easy enough to replace with longer from the garage. Once the unit was hung and fired up, I experienced the fan clipping noise again, but a little bit of tugging and shoving on my part made it go away. Now that that’s dealt with and the unit’s been running in EcoMode for a few hours (a setting that cycles the fans on and off every couple of minutes, if it’s not too hot, to suck a little more chill off the coils without having to run the compressor), all’s very good. Contrary to other’s opinions, I think it’s very quiet, certainly for its size and compared to a GE it replaces. Versatile settings, with remote, and very efficient. Pretty happy so far—I did get an extended warranty just in case.

It actually improved performance once we tilted it about 5 degrees. It is now been functioning in my bedroom and actually cools two rooms yes. It gets downright cold! In the bedroom. The remote is easy and dependable. Slightly loud when the compressor kicks on and off using the energy saver mode, but my opinion of the refurbished unit has increased.

was 100% dented all over cracked plastic front, bent power pins like completely smashed but it runs not really any bent radiator pins thankfully but lord its dented the packaging was fully garbage for this heavy ass ac it does run but prolly not gonna buy from them again just to damn sketchy.

This is a very nice window AC Unit, Came with easy to follow instructions, The actual AC Unit slides Out of the outer shell, So it makes it a little easier when putting it in the window and not having to deal with the heavy lifting, It Cools really well, and The filter is so easy to remove and replace when cleaning.

Recently, purchased this unit only to install it and discover that the unit makes a loud annoying noise and the cooling capacity is very poor...I feel duped, and taken for my hard earned money - I expected much more from a Amazon vender. This purchase was a total waste of money!!!

Cycles off and on, now at 69* , 85 * outside, not cooling.. shuts off then immediately comes back on , drives you nuts. its a LEMON. My mistake buying refurbished online!
