Q: Should i order a size bigger then my original size?

Mine was a little tight but I know I have put on a few pounds. The original one I purchased on line (Not thru Amazon} was 2 sizes too small. Look for a company that has a chart showing they are using US sizes.

Q: is it machine washable?

wash cold in a machine and tumble low temperature in dryer. Just line dried mine overnight. I L O V E this coat!!

Q: Will this jacket keep you warm longterm in cold environments?

This Jacket is good for 32 degrees or above in my opinion. If a larger size is purchased and you utilize a liner(s) of desired weight, then yes, it will keep you warm in long term cold environments.
