A very well-assembled compilation of prayers and other guidance for men (not just Catholic) who desire to be effective role models for their families (including children and grandchildren). Emphasis on courage, humility, faith and trust in God's Will.

This book compiles essential knowledge for Catholic men into an engaging, informative, and easily referenced format. This is an absolute must for every Catholic man who wants to get better and fulfill their role both with God and in society. I find myself referring to it time and time again to ensure I’m staying on the path and will be getting copies for both of my sons to help them on the road to manhood.

What a refreshing book! God bless Bishop Olmsted for exhorting Catholic men to actually BE MEN! What a revolutionary idea in the modern Vatican II church, which teaches men to be effeminate, "tolerant," and "inclusive." And it's no wonder; many of the hierarchy that was involved in the Council have-thank God!-been exposed as homosexuals and pederasts. I've never read anything from Bishop Olmsted before now, but I look forward to reading more. The Manual for Men begins with a call to the Church MILITANT to remember that we are at war, and that, as Catholic men, it is our God-given duty to fight. Copious quotations from Scripture and, yes, unfortunately too many modern VII "saints," are included as an example of our role as Catholic brothers, fathers, and soldiers for Christ. I'm only a few pages in, so far; I'm approaching this as I would lectio divina, carefully reading to let it fully sink in. It's that good already! I've skimmed around, though, and I can tell the is a wealth of information in this volume. If you're a Catholic man, just GET IT!

Great book if you really want to know about being a Christian man.

This is a good book on fatherhood, but if I had to pick between this one and the "Terror of Demons: Reclaiming Catholic Masculinity", I would pick the latter by Kennedy Hall. Half of the Manual for Men is advise and theological understanding between the role of men and women and the roles of fathers, and the other half of the book is quotes by saints. So, half the book is on fatherhood, and the rest is quotes from saints. Get the book by Kennedy Hall, it's much more practical.

This book is intended for Roman Catholic men, but any believing Christian will find this book edifying in their struggle to follow Christ's example as Godly men. I'm not Roman Catholic, but I still found this book an excellent source of strength and guidance. There's no mysticism idolizing the Saints or Mary that you sometimes find, but a firm reliance on scripture and the power of Christ which refreshes the spirit. This is the 2nd TAN book that I've gotten that has really ministered to me. Great books written by great Catholics. God bless you all and thank you.
