I was spraying 2K clear coat, which is a strong irritant for the airways and is associated with many poor health effects. I was only going to do it for one project, though, so I didn't want to spring for an expensive name-brand respirator, so I decided to take a chance with this one. I performed a homebrew fit test before using it, where I plugged the intakes and checked the seal around my face while inhaling and exhaling - there was no leakage, although the exhale vent seems to be a little floppy when active. I checked whether it would fall open when leaning over and it stayed shut, so the respirator seemed up to the task. While spraying the clear coat with this respirator and its bundled filters, I noticed no odor coming into the mask - it performed very well! While I might consider a fancier respirator if I had to use one regularly, this is definitely an adequate option for a one-time or rare use project.

I’ve worn a 1/2 mask my whole career painting, but I think I like this better. I’m not sure about it when I get hot and sweaty just yet but we’ll see… as of now I’m keeping it at 5 star

Won't seal no matter what you do. And it's not the straps, it's the way its molded/ shaped. I knew the minute I opened the box that it wasn't going to work (it's one of those types of products). Even if it had, you can see places where the integrity was going to fail sooner rather than later anyways. My guess is that had it fit and I'd used it, that I'd have found an air leak somewhere. It just has that feel and look to it. There's a reason the name-brand ones are a couple hundred bucks. Do yourself a favor and just spend the money.

for the price i thought i would not get my hopes up for lasting but i was totally wrong

I got this because I realized I needed a good protective mask the next time I sprayed insecticide or did another noxious job. It seemed a little small when I took it out of the box, but I tested it and am very happy with the results. First I tested it by burning four times the amount of incense I normally do. I swear I could smell the incense (though that might have been psychosomatic), but I had no coughing or watering eyes. Next I tested it by spraying a chemical I knew to be irritating (an anti-static spray which causes me coughing fits similar to very strong hairspray). To my amazement, I couldn’t smell the spray at all while I was wearing the mask. Again I had neither coughing nor tearing. The straps are easy to tighten to create a good seal, and while loosing them took a little practice, it’s not hard to do. The visor is easy to see through. I feel this was a great purchase.

Bought this for a crawlspace encapsulation project. Pulled out the old vapor barrier with 30 years of dust and dirt on it, creating very dusty air. Worked great. Then I applied RMR 86 to moldy areas. RMR 86 has an odor like bleach - very strong. I didn't smell a thing. When I was finished spraying and exited the crawlspace I went inside to take a shower. You could smell the RMR 86 in the house. So I know the mask worked great because I couldn't smell a thing while in the RMR 86 filled crawlspace.
