Repress of the long out of print compilation of early singles and rare recordings from Fu Manchu; Heavy guitar riffs mixed with loud drums. In this record Fu Manchu defines the Van Rock sound. It includes all the songs featured on Senioritis , Pick-Up Summer and Don't Bother Knockin' (If this Vans Rockin) . Also included are previously unreleased versions of Ojo Rojo and Simco. The band recorded the material here as a trio and as a four piece.

A great album after a few listens!
Like most Fu Manchu albums, you need to listen to this one a few times to get into it and its care-free, "go for it" mood. Dont concentrate too hard on the repetive rifs or the lyrics- thats not the point of the Fu, its all about vibe and feeling rather than 'musical' content as such. If you want Shakespear-esque lyrics or complex songs played on "many levels" then this aint your band! Sure, this isnt one of THE best Fu albums, but its still great, and the track SIMCO has got one of the best sounds to it ever! Dont Bother Knockin is another great tune (after a bit of a slow start, Ojo Rojo is a classic, and the others are pretty hot. Turn your hifi on loud, close your eyes, and imagine you're trucking across the States with the windows down and some beers and chicks in the back..........

close but no cigar
After hearing "evil eye" at a friends house I bought this album. I was expecting a much heaveyer album with less emphasis on feedback and whiney out of tune vocals. It would be a whole lot better if they just speeded it up a bit, and put the enforcis off the singing and more into a faster beat. This album is a great dissappointment and could have been much better.
