And now we have Goin' Platinum!, the newest effort from the soon-to-be legendary soul singer Robert Finley and his crack band of geniuses. From the lovelorn bombast of "If You Forget My Love" to the soul-stirring "Medicine Woman," and the home-on-the-road ripper "Empty Arms" to the yearning "Honey Let Me Stay the Night," all capped by the epic closer "Holy Wine," featuring Finley's ethereal falsetto, Finley's performance left Dan Auerbach speechless-as it will anyone who lays ears to it.As for the album title, Dan Auerbach gives all credit to Finley and his huge but wholly considerate personality. "He was just beaming from the second he walked in the door," Auerbach says. "Every time he'd listen to playback, he'd say, ‘It's goin' platinum.' That was his catch phrase.

Big Change in Sound Yields Huge Payoff
I absolutely loved Robert Finley's first album. I thought it was the finest blues/soul album I'd heard, and was one of the best blues albums to come out in a long time. I was nervous when I heard Robert Finley had been working with Dan Auerbach, because I'm a huge JD McPherson fan & wasn't crazy about the direction he went w/ his sound after hanging out with Dan (it was more that I felt the production sounded "synthetic" than anything specific with the music). So it was with a lot of hesitation that I put this album on. But the first time I dropped the needle on this album, I was BLOWN AWAY. This album is absolutely incredible. The sound is definitely different from his first album, but in no way is it inferior. The change in sound feels organic, and not forced. The songs are almost universally superior to his first album, and represents a huge leap forward. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.NOTE: The vinyl version of the album does NOT include a download card with it.

Soul Power!
I read some very positive reviews about this album, plus an article in Mojo magazine about Robert Finley and how he got signed, and how this album was produced by Dan Auerbach. Maybe it's not quite as wonderful as I had hoped, but it's nonetheless a very impressive album, and ends on a truly dynamic note with the amazing "Holy Wine," a flat-out great, great song that will take your breath away. Finley has a rich, expressive voice that elevates even some of the lackluster material on here. Definitely a guy you need to hear, particularly if you love classic soul in the vein of Al Green, Otis Clay, or James Carr. Soul power! And I can never get enough of stuff like this.

Robert Finley R&B artist fine record.
This is such an unexpected, refreshing throwback record. It reminds me of Wilson Pickett or Sam and Dave. Nothing hidden or blended or updated. Just pure, roots like R&B. We should have more artists like this. Robert Finley is not copying anyone or presenting updated , blended, or hybridized rehash. This is a fine performer doing exactly what he wants to do and succeeding nicely.

The Real Deal
Confessing to a bit of bias here. I grew up listening to the old Delta blues, Otis Redding et al. in my era. Leadbelly!Finley sounds like the real thing, improvisations of the family lullaby. The quality of the recording is the same as what we used to emit from our dorm rooms, but for some of us elderly it adds to the charm.

I love it!
I love the rythm. Reminds me of Bob Dylan. But Mr. Finley has a sound all his own. Not much makes me want to dance, but I put this on and I dance through all my chores.

Excellent album
Listening to it while working out on the bike and really enjoying it. The beat of Get It While You Can really got me moving on the bike. :) Excellent album.

Amazon efficace, puntuale e disponibile come sempre!
