Unique Skin Care
This skin care formula is so different and unique. I've heard of ceramides before and used skin care ON my skin with that ingredient. I never knew though that Ceramides is made from a plant called konjac and can be taken internally as a supplement equally well for skin care. This ingredient has been researched, studied and tested and proved to have a positive effect on skin hydration, smoothness and softness. The other ingredient is also quite interesting. It is called 'Red-Orange Complex'. On the label you will note these words listed after 'Red Orange Complex': Moro, Sanguinello and Tarocco. Would you believe these are different kinds of Sicilian citrus fruits grown near the volcano Mt. Etna in Sicily? How exotic! These fruits offer Vitamin C to this formula for positive benefits to the skin such as protection from the elements of nature, moisturization, elasticity, and 'glow'. It also helps reduce dark spots. The studies went for about 2 months before the subjects were re-evaluated. It was a placebo-controlled study and for that short amount of time 80% of the subjects noticed considerable improvements. I found this back story all fascinating and I was anxious to see how it would affect my skin. Unfortunately, I only had a bottle of 30 capsules. At 1 a day it took me to 30 days. At that point I did see 'glow' and for certain m y skin was much more moisturized. It really was too short a time to notice benefits as described in the studies. If you are new to supplements and vitamins you should know that it usually takes 2-3 months to start seeing benefits. One needs to be patient and consistent. I did not continue to a 2nd bottle although I would have enjoyed to. I thought the cost was a bit high for 30 capsules. I did see references to Mercola supplements being non Gmo, manufactured in a cGMP, and Lab tested. Lab testing is probably the most important certification. That tells me that I can feel confident that what is in that bottle is truly what is in it. I have always used Mercola products with confidence so I definitely can recommend this skin care Ceramides.

not sure I saw a difference after only one month, but trusted brand with quality ingredients
I like that this has other beneficial to the skin nutrients (antioxidants) in it besides ceramides. I did not know that you could take oral ceramides, I knew it was an ingredient in creams. Dr. Mercola is a trusted name so I believe in the quality of these ingredients. I wanted to wait till I finished the bottle to write my review. I am not really sure I saw a huge difference in my skin. Maybe it was little better though maybe it was only a little better because i was looking for it to be? I did little research and found that studies into oral ceramides were 12 weeks long, not just one month, but this sample bottle was only a one month supply, so maybe I need to try it for 3 months to see real results. Something else of note, the studies done used 0.8mg of ceramides, this supplement has 5mg, so a lot more than the studied amount. So while the 12 week study found no harmful effects from of oral ceramides, the dose of this Dr. Mercola is one is much much higher and I am now not comfortable taking 5mg a day for an extended period of time. Maybe the trick is to get a bottle and space the capsules out to more closely mimic the 12 weeks study dosing, that way I can stretch my money, stay safe, and since 0.8mg was all it took after 12 weeks to see positive result, I would still get positive results in the long run even with making this one bottle of Dr. Mercola ceramides last for 12 weeks. Hmmm, something to think about.....

Only 23 in the bottle?
Right when I opened the bottle I noticed that they could have used a much smaller one because the pills only filled about 1/3 of it. It really didn't seem like a lot, so I dumped them out to count and found that my new bottle only had 23 pills in it (advertised as 30 pills). It's not the end of the world, but this seems like a major oversight when the issue is the actual number of pills being distributed. Although the ingredients are quality and I haven't noticed any adverse effects after taking for 2 weeks (no noticeable improvements either), I would have a hard time trusting this company or recommending their products in the future.
