Can you use this to charge 2 different size of the same type batteries in parallel 1x80ah 1x60ah? if not can you charge 2 the same size in parallel?

You can do both but it's advised that you the same batteries bought at the same time. If you use what you have then your 80ah battery becomes a 60ah

Has anyone tried wiring this direct to a load without a battery?

There is a correct sequence for connection of load , battery, Solar to prevent damage to the controller. Solar panels do not provide a constant voltage or current required by most electronic devices for stable operation, therefore it would be a pointless to try to operate without the battery power,
