Colour From Coast To Coast: Alice Mumford.
Although this is a very slim paperback book, it serves as a good introduction to Alice Mumford`s work.Mumford is a painter and tutor at the St. Ives School of Painting and her work is quite heavily influenced by Winifred Nicholson and Bonnard; she works within a recognisable tradition but with her own distinctive approach. Her painting is loose, considered and positively glories in the substance of the material of paint; her use of light and colour gives her work an inner glow – her deceptively simple still lifes and interiors radiate with warmth and intimacy. The volume is very well illustrated in full colour throughout with many good-sized plates, some double-page spreads and details.Texts consist of a short introduction by Mumford herself, an essay by Ian Massey and a postscript by Richard Demarco.A lovely book on an interesting painter, well worth having – and it`s worth checking out her Youtube videos for further insight into her subjects and preoccupations.

A lovely little book.
A lovely, slimish volume with well-chosen examples. I would have liked a little more for the money, but guess it's a limited print run at the moment and glad to have it.
