Since most Nutritional Yeast is cheaper and attempting to mislead by stating that it is grown with non-gmo yeast, I pay multiple times more for Sari Nutritional Yeast (though barely affordable for a blue collar family) because of the following personal email resoponse Feb 9, 2018: "I would like to let you know that our Non-Fortified Nutritional Yeast is grown naturally on a combination of Non-GMO sugar beet and sugar cane molasses. Please let me know if you have any other questions, Todd. We take our customer service to heart at Sari Foods and we are happy to share the information that our customers need in order to make informed decisions about what they put into their bodies. Best Regards, Johnny Sari Foods Company" also "I'd like to let you know that our Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast is grown on a mixture of sugar beet and sugar cane molasses here in the U.S. We really appreciate your concerns around genetically modified sugar beet molasses, it's a concern that we share and is one of the main reasons we set out to create a company that produced honestly non-fortified and organic products and had a transparent customer service policy in communicating about them. I want to reassure you that whilst most sugar beet molasses are genetically modified, at Sari Foods we do not believe in these methods. Furthermore, we regularly test our nutritional yeast (along with all our other products) to ensure only the highest quality. We test each batch for toxic metals, contaminants and other organisms. Our results show no contaminants, no detectable levels of lead and no GMO protein or DNA in the raw materials used as growth substrate. Q: I don't see B12 listed as an ingredient, which is odd. Most vegans want nutritional yeast for this purpose (and the cheese sub). Any idea?

B12 is a poison unless you get it from natural sources like bacterial fermentation or animal source. As a vegan you should get it from bacterial fermentation. I don't know who told you to get B12 but if you look in Amazon they sell fortified yeast, with tons of B12 as 1/3rd the price. If you want poison then go ahead and buy the cheap junk with synthetic B12.

You might want to contact the company. Unlike toxic and synthetic MSG which is synthesised by chemically altering natural glutamic acid, glutamic acid in its original form is not harmful and our bodies are designed to utilize a certain amount of it.
