Fixed a slight problem I was having.
Does everyone need this? Maybe not but it was a great help for me. I like to put cherry tomatoes into my spaghetti sauce (real Italians will probably toss me out of the club here but I use a jarred sauce anyways so I'm not winning any awards.) But I don't like intact cherry tomatoes, I never have, in anything. I don't know why - they remind me of misshaped eyeballs or something. But I hate cutting up the little buggers, it's easy but it's boring. With this handy food holder, I can plop my tomatoes onto it, put the lid on and slice through once and I'm done. Well, it only fits half a container of tomatoes, so two slices. Works like a charm.I'm very happy. Plus it doesn't take up a lot of storage room. I didn't even think about using it for the things the description says - so I'm looking forward to using it for other items. Hello bagels! One thing if you use it to cut tomatoes - use a serrated knife for ease. Those tomato skins are tough. While this is one of those kitchen gadgets that everyone says why? I like it. It makes cooking easier and I hate cooking. So it's a win!

Despite it being a luxury, it works well
I know an item like this could be argued to be "unnecessary", or as my father would call it a "kitchen gadget", but I always appreciated novelty and/or time saving items like this. Do you absolutely *need* it? Probably not, but it is helpful for making large-batch recipes. It provides a smooth slicing action, and works with more items than you'd think, I've used it to slice nuts, tomatos, grapes, olives, pepper sections, and more. As long as you can fit it into the slicing chamber comfortably it works. So what can I say? It does make the process of mass slicing easier and more convenient, if you have room in your kitchen, I'd recommend it.

food slicer
ok tomatoes I was not able to slice a cherry tomato but honestly i never have but i could do grapes so I'm thinking my tomatoes were too soft. There is a little trial and error to be able to use this tool to help slice the foods but it is nice and i will continue to figure things out. This is very sturdy and well made.

Great for filleting chicken
I've been looking for something that I can use to easily fillet chicken without worrying about accidentally cutting myself. This little food sliver has been the answer to that! It makes filleting chicken so much easier, and it doesn't slip and slide on the chicken, which is nice. It's easy to clean and doesn't take up much space in my drawer. I'm fairly happy with this little slicer.

Tomato slicer
It kind of works. I need to practice with it. Use a long knife.

Nice little gadget that works well with a sharp knife
I think the name of this device should be changed to Easy Slice Food Holder because it isn't actually a "slicer" at all! It simply holds the ingredients in place to make it easier to slice them with a sharp knife. That being said, this tool is a great little gadget that works well IF you have a very sharp knife. I've used it for grapes, tiny tomatoes and kalamata olives which we often include in salads. Normally, chopping small ingredients such as these is a real chore that takes a lot of time. The concept behind this tool is genius but it won't work well if you don't have a sharp knife. I keep my knives chef sharp and I tried it with a knife that needed sharpening and another that had just been sharpened and there is an amazing difference. As you would expect, the duller knife simply mashed and tore the ingredients and was very difficult to drag through the slicer but the sharp knife made quick work of slicing the small ingredients. I haven't tried it with larger items but I intend to and I see no reason why it wouldn't work on those as well. The only other point I'd like to make is that whether you chop something small or large, and whether or not your knife is sharp or dull, you can easily cut yourself if you aren't diligent in keeping your hand out of the way of the slicer. Always keep the hand that's not holding the knife ON TOP of the slicer while slicing or you run the risk of getting cut.

Solves So Many Problems
Had a recipe that called for a whole bunch of sliced cherry tomatoes and this was a whole life saver.Sometimes its the smaller things that are the most annoying and if you'd ever had to cut up a whole bunch of grapes for a kid's snack or anything like that you know by the end you'd rather fight with a dozen full size oranges than those itty bitty things again. That's what made me immediately jump on this.It seemed like such a simple efficient solution to a problem and I'm so ecstatic to say it is that exactly. Requires no prep to set up, simply open one half, fill the device with whatever small round fruit or other food is bothering you and then put the other half down tightly. Then simply run your knife through the gap in the opening, remove the lid and voila...a whole bunch of (more or less) perfectly sliced grapes, cherry tomatoes...I even had a recipe for Greek spaghetti that required a whole bunch of split olives and this device handled them like a champ. Highly recommend.

Works fine, know its limitations and use a SHARP knife.
This slicer works as intended. It holds food or vegetables down so you can get a nice, safe clean cut. No doubt it does this.. but know its limitations. I would use this for grapes, Roma tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, and similarly shaped and textured edibles.Use a sharp knife. Sharp knives make quick and safe work of slicing. A dull blade could make the food slide in the slicer and make you apply too much force possibly slicing straight through with too much force and injuring yourself. Its a great time saver when you are slicing grapes for toddlers!
