The rice we brought appeared to be brown (the bag was marked 'Double horse Palakkadan Matta rice). But when we washed the rice, the brown color came off in an oily slimy way, as though the color was somehow added to it with an oily colored medium. The cooked rice was pure white in color. So I think people who buy this rice need to be beware!
