Mattel Classic Football 2 Game

Yes this was the "new" version of the old game. A great way to identify the difference is the "old" game took a 9v battery while the "new" game takes AA batteries. There are differences in play as stated in many other reviews. But I have enjoyed this game immensely since it arrived. It's been 30 years ago that I played this game on the school bus, even "renting" it out to people at school sometimes. (Hey, I also bought a pack of Bubble Yum Bubble Gum every day for .25 cents and sold the 5 pieces for .25 cents each, a dollar profit on the gum alone ! LOL) I was quite the entrepreneur back then. This game has not lost it's magic ! If you are "thinking" about getting it, I would urge you to today !

Best football game ever

I only played it for a couple of times when it started malfunctioning I replaced the batteries per the instructions it still won’t work correctly I tried to get it replaced but I’d had it like 50 days but only played with it a couple of times! Total waste of money! Do not purchase one!!!

this game is as I remember don't be fooled by the 1978 game people this 2002 game rocks every bit as good as the original and is only 8 years old not 30 also fastest delivery ever I ordered a game controller from someone else after I ordered from here both expedited and yours came on the day the other finally shipped my product. Also the quality of the game is awesome just what I wanted for the money I spent and of course football 2 rocks from the word go.

my grandson loves this Christmas gift and mom says it keeps him occupied for hours. I didn't think it would be such a hit, with all of the modern methods of playing games for kids these days. It was in great condition, resealed packaging but instructions intact and works well.

Not quite the version I had hoped to get. This has more buttons and controls (sound on/off, for example). The one I remembered was powered by a 9V battery (this one uses AA batteries), and had FOUR modes, Pro1, Pro2, Kick Pro1 and Kick Pro2. The little tunes are different also. Still have my original, I received for Christmas, when I was doing a Med-Run on a Submarine back in the early 80s. It was awesome then, is awesome now. I guess you might say I'm easily amused.

my favorite old school game Classic Football 2 I know its Vintage but for about $50 it’s borderline price but works real great!
