Incredible tamper set!
This is such a nice tamper set. Everything in the side and its own right is made extremely well. However, the tamper is extremely exceptional! It’s very robust feeling and is finished extremely nicely. It has a very nice modern look to it and the spring tension is really strong. So far this has been my favorite tamper today and has become my number one. Good price point really awesome product. I would definitely recommend!

Fantastic for beginner espresso enthusiasts!
I recently received an espresso machine and needed a set that had both a tamper and a WDT tool for de-clumping. After researching the size of my portafilter, I went with this 51 mm set and have been very pleased by its performance. The tamp itself has concentric rings on the raised metal bottom that touches the coffee grounds, and its handle is sturdy and intuitive to use. The stand is very useful, it helps keep my tamp clean when I’m making my coffee mess. The WDT tool I found didn’t declump as well as I would hope; I still had lots of clumps if I used it for too long and would have to tap the coffee grounds off that stuck to the needles. The tamper is great and the WDT tool has a pretty wooden design for the handle and case. Would recommend as a gift for beginner espresso makers!

Nicely designed but unintuitive
I like the design of this tamper. It goes well with my black + stainless coffee bar set up. However, it's not super intuitive to use. I'm not sure what the numbers on the body are supposed to represent. I'm guessing it's supposed to be pressure in bars? They should include that in the description. Perhaps I'm using it wrong, but there are not any included instructions on setup or calibration. In addition, the "click" to know you've hit the selected pressure is very faint. And I've found that you reach that pressure on pretty much any setting before the tamper actually travels downward from the base, so if you're not using enough grounds, you might think you've applied the right amount of pressure without doing any tamping. The needle distributor is a nice addition. However it doesn't really match the design of the tamper and having it encased in the wooden tube doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe it's good for travel? I use it daily, but I don't keep it in the tube.3 stars for the value you get (tamper + distributor + rubber mat) and design. -2 stars for functionality and unintuitive use.

Very nice
This set is very nice quality o was actually surprised how good it is. The press has some wight to it and it has a few pieces to offer. The rubber holder is nice and the little tool to break down clumps is nice too. Would make excellent gift. I enjoy it with my breville espresso maker. Allows me to make a good coffee each time. Allows me to make it perfect each time. Would recommend.

This tamper does a better job than my solid tamper of evenly compressing the espresso in the basket.
I am happy with the fit and finish of this spring-loaded tamper. I was disappointed that there is no discernible click, or thump (at least none that I can tell), that tells you that the proper pressure has been applied to the espresso in the portafilter basket. I have been supposing that during the press, once this tamper stops, that should be the correct pressure on the espresso, and any more pressure applied would be too much. Information I have looked at, supports this. This tamper does do a better job than my old solid tamper of evenly compressing the espresso in the basket. Also the impression of the concentric rings are a cool touch. The resulting espresso shot shows less, or no channeling. I also am not sure what the numbered graduations on the tamper barrel are for, although they could be used to measure the depth of the compacted espresso below the edge of the basket. This may help with creating more consistent espresso shots, if the level of the espresso in the basket is consistently the same. Of course, weighing the espresso is always a better way to ensure consistent shots. The provided silicone mat is a nice touch, and provides a place to hold the tamper when making espresso. I already have a WDT tool I like to use. The provided WDT tool is compact in size, and has a nice storage case. I plan to use it for travel.
