Works surprisingly well
Yes this thing is big and bulky at 4-1/2” in diameter and 7-1/4” high. This is intended to quickly cool down liquids. A travel mug this is not. The overall quality is not that great. The interior is stainless steel that does not have a completely smooth finish. It’s not rough but there’s a very light texture to it. This presents at least two potential problems. First is cleaning; the interior is very narrow (see pic) and the average size hand probably wouldn’t fit inside. You definitely need a cleaning brush. There’s no mention if it’s dishwasher safe or not. Second, this affects the (lack of) smoothness in removing & tightening the top and bottom. The corresponding lid’s threads are plastic and the friction between it and metal does not make a very easy process. The top lid only requires a quarter turn to install and remove but you have to be careful and line it up properly first. The bottom requires one and a half revolutions and the same issue exists. Doesn’t speak well of its fit and finish. I put a small amount of food grade silicone lubricant on the bottom closure and that helped a lot. Supposedly you don’t have to replace the water inside every time it’s used so you wouldn’t need to access this compartment very often anyway. I didn’t and wouldn’t use anything to lube the top, as it will come in contact with the beverage. Both lids also have gaskets to prevent leaking. But the only thing that really matters is, does it work? To my surprise, yes it does. I put the lid on and swirled hot coffee occasionally for about a minute and a half. The instructions say to constantly swirl but I did not. The coffee was at least room temp if not cooler! I think it could have been used it an additional 1-2 more times before needing to refreeze the water inside. I did notice a few droplets of frozen water had formed at the bottom lid’s edge, so it did not seal 100% but it was very little leakage. Overall I found this thing to be useful and acceptable. Some things were thought out like having a hinged flap with silicone to cover the opening for pouring and a vent hole on the lid, but other areas not so much, like the interior surface and threads. And if you look closely, you see "MAX" printed inside the water chamber to indicate the water level needed for freezing. Not the greatest quality and not sure how long it’ll last, but it does do what it’s supposed to do. Four and a half stars.

Very Disappointed
I love a great Iced Coffee & was looking forward to receiving this Chiller.Once I received & removed from the package, the cup seemed heavy, large & bulky. I tried to remove the lid with my bare hands to no avail. I tried using a silicone gripper without success. I had to resort to running under very hot water & placing a dish towel on the lid and tapping with the heavy end of a butter knife around the top. I finally removed the lid.I removed the bottom lid without incident and washed all of the parts then let them air dry. I filled the bottom with tap water (I didn't notice a line or marking on the inside of the bottom to let you know maximum water level but saw the directions showing a red line) and screwed on the bottom lid. I put the filled cup in the freezer sitting upright & as level as possible & let freeze overnight, about 12 hours. When I took it out of the freezer, the bottom lid was at an angle and looked like it was about to pop off. At this point I decided that I had put too much effort into a Beverage Chiller that's supposed to be "The easiest to use".I'm returning it for a refund....

Undiluted Iced Coffee
I've read some of the other reviews, so I was aware of some issues going in. That said, I had none. The bottom opened fairly easily. It unscrews. There doesn't appear to be a lot of room because you don't immediately see the lip, but as you add water, it'll spill over that lip and fill in the side-walls. There's a max line, and you shouldn't overfill it because the instructions say to close the base and then freeze. Overfilling means there's no room for the expanding ice to go and it'll distort the container. It froze right up, no issues. The lid was a little snug. It, too, unscrews, but has a silicone seal so it's a little harder to move, but it opened just fine. The instructions said to pour in the hot water, close the lid, and swirl the cup for 2 minutes. I did as it said and after 2 minutes my steaming hot coffee was sufficiently chilled.Update:I've used it a few times and LOVE THIS!!!Yes, it's a little large and has to be stored (upside down) in the freezer. But it works, over and over. It holds over 12 ounces of fluid and will make at least 3 full-sized iced coffees in 1 freeze. The lid seals well and is leakproof. Just fill and shake for 2 minutes. Then open the pour tab (it clips open on the lid) and pour. Open the lid, refill and repeat. The second coffee is just as cold and I can feel ice still inside the walls of the cup. The third isn't a cold but definitely is cool after 2 minutes. The cup is still cold to the touch. My only recommendation: Sweeten your coffee before adding it. The sugar melts best in hot fluid and all the shaking will further dissolve it.I know the directions say to swirl, but I just shake it gently. It's actually easier. We used to make coffee ice cubes for iced coffee, and we would go through a tray for 2 cups. I don't know if you've ever seen coffee ice cubes after a month in the freezer, but they're gnarly. Plus, the ice tray gets all stained. This is way easier and takes up only a little more room in the freezer. Best of all, I don't need to make an additional batch of coffee to make ice cubes. I absolutely recommend this for anyone who likes hot beverages done cold.

Many faults but still effective…..
Update #2: a little while after I tossed it out, I felt bad and wasteful. I took it back out and barely touched the bottom plug and I heard a pop, like a vacuumed lock and the bottom plug unscrewed right out! I was then able to dump out the water and without it leaking on me get the top open. Ok let’s try again! Filled it with water well below the fill line and put it in the freezer upside down (which kinda stinks because you want the ice on the bottom where you brew the coffee… but I didn’t want to risk it leaking or popping the plug again. Used it again this morning. Bottom plug was flush and not popped. Brewed the coffee and shook. It still leaks out the cap and again I couldn’t get the top off I had to pour out the spout. It is NOT cross threaded. After the coffee was out I was able to remove the lid. While washing I noticed that now the ice made the interior compartment pop into the mug!? I’ll attach a pic. So the area on one side is bulged into the cup. I have to edit this review and change it to 2 stars. It’s a great IDEA, but this particular model has too many faults unfortunately!!!_____________UPDATE: I wasn’t able to get the plug out of the bottom it was totally lodged in there, but I figured it would be “ok” and stuck it back in the freezer. I tried to use it again but as it was brewing it was at the same time melting the ice and leaking out the bottom. I took it to the sink and put the cap on and started to shake, it was now leaking out the top and out the bottom. (Facepalm) I then tried to unscrew the lid and it wouldn’t open!? I ended up having to pop the lid to pour it out. I couldn’t get the top off and my husband couldn’t get the top off. As I mentioned in my initial review,The top doesn’t screw on smoothly, it’s “scratchy” and tight. I ran it under water and tried again, nothing. So now I can’t get the top or the bottom off. In the trash it goes. Which is sad because I really love the idea and two mornings of instant iced coffee was kinda great!___________I feel like I should give this product 3 stars after what I went through or even 2…… but the bottom line I went from Keurig to iced coffee in a travel mug in what feels like no time. But it deserves 4 for how well it workedI put the cup in my standup freezer in the garage so it probably is more deeply frozen than it would have been in my kitchen.Well wait, starting from the beginning.First I cleaned and measured how much it holds. You can get 14oz in and are still able to put the lid on. (The lid does NOT twist nicely. It’s very stiff and hard to turn)I then opened the bottom and saw something that looked like soap, so I just ran my hand along it (right above the max line) and sliced my finger right open. Deeply and painfully. That is sharp metal that will cut your hand! Don’t put your hand in there!!!! The water was under the max line but when it was frozen it still popped the bottom, so I’d say fill a bit below the max line given how much it popped my bottom.I took it from the freezer and used it directly in the Keurig. It is able to hold the largest size (which on mine is 12oz)I tried it straight from the Keurig and it was still hot (obviously). I took it to the sink and screwed on the lid. I shook it over the sink and it did leak a little. I looked at the clock 11:03. Shook it for a tiny bit and check it, clock was still 11:03 so less than a minute. It was cold! And I mean cold. I didn’t feel it even needed any more time?! I poured a splash of cream into the unit and gave it a swirl, poured it over ice and it’s perfect!? I’m actually very surprised. I thought it would take much longer and not work as well as it did. You could honestly do this before work, and it would only take an extra 30 seconds to make iced coffee straight from the Keurig. Shocking. I almost wish I tried to immediately brew a 2nd cup and see if it worked as well the second time, immediately after to see if I could do one for me and my husband the same day. I imagine yes! It was still very frozen.I’m actually very happy with the results even though my finger is sliced open!!!It’s not the easiest to clean with the big metal piece in the middle. Probably would work best to use one of those sponge on a handle things… my sponge was hard to fit in there. I’ll now let it melt and remove some water from the base and refreeze. Hopefully it didn’t ruin the bottom plug.I really enjoy iced coffee, I’m shocked at how easily this made it! So much better than brewing the ice coffee pods over ice.

LET’S CHILL
The media could not be loaded. This chiller does the job so well, it effectively chilled TWO long espressos, 45 minutes apart from each other. This is impressive already, but the detail that makes it even better is that the first shot was chilled a full 2 hours after removing the chiller from the freezer, and traveling with it in 95º heat outdoors..To illustrate my point, I’ve employed my digital thermometer. I wanted to show how quickly this chiller worked, and as you can see in the video, one long shot of espresso goes from a max of 155º F to 46° in less than 3 minutes. That’s 109º without shaking the chiller that was fresh out of the fridge. I did it again, without re-freezing the chiller, but this second time I shook the chiller for about a minute, and it produced almost the same result in less than 2 minutes.I’m happy to confirm that it is indeed leak-proof, the chiller didn’t leak in travel in 95º heat, even though I could hear that a significant amount of the ice on the inside had already melted. The flip cover on the top lid is convenient for drinking directly from the chiller too.As much as I do love this chiller, I do have to mention 2 things. First, I wish the shape was more straight cylinder; the conic shape makes it occupy too much space in the freezer. Second, the lid and the base are really difficult to remove. Maybe it’s a result of dramatic temperature change, but for the lid I would recommend one with a rim lined in silicone to make it easier to remove. As for the base cap, it was really difficult to get my fingers in the allotted space, and achieve enough of a grip to open the base with ease. Once you get those covers off, it’s easy to use, easy to re-fill, and easy to clean.Performance-wise, this chiller is incredible, but in terms of ease of use, removing the cap and the base is a drag. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would, but in lieu of giving it 5, I have to give it 4 here.
