very solid, but unnecessarily limited mounting options
If you plan on drilling holes in concrete and using the supplied expanding bolts, you'll be pleased with this.I was a little disappointed this doesn't accommodate more options for mounting it. Anything other than taper headed expanding bolts (as included with it) require modifying it.It would be much more flexible on mounting options if the bolts attached inside or outside the path of the shackle. By putting the mounting holes directly under the shackle's resting positions, they had to use taper headed bolts that counter sink into the plate to allow the shackle to lay flat. For someone planning on drilling holes in existing concrete, and mounting it exactly as they intended, that's fine. But creativity in mounting is discouraged by this design.Another thought - the countersunk bolts mean there's less metal left to support the tapered bolt in the plate. If someone pulls on it really hard, if the bolts don't pull out of the concrete, the plate will probably tear free from the bolts. Either of those will happen long before the "heat treated" shackle breaks. The weak point in this design is thin metal under the tapered bolts.I want to use this as an anchor point to pull against using an overhead hoist. My plan was to weld some heavy bolts to rebar, and set that in the concrete when I pour, so I have 4 bolts sticking up slightly out of the concrete. Then use nuts to secure the shackle to the protruding bolts. Since I'm wanting it for an anchor point rather than locking or security, so I'm not concerned about the minor security benefit from using the allen headed bolts they include.I still might mount it that way, but I'll have to cut the plastic and the shackle won't lay flat. Oh well.I'm still giving it 4 stars because I think most people want to mount it with the included bolts and be very pleased with it. It looks big and tough and looks are 95% of security. If you're using it for security - and if you don't want to remove it later - put high strength thread lock on the bolts before you install them. These bolts are large enough diameter that high strength thread lock will be very hard to break free. It will strip your allen wrench before it gives up. Otherwise anyone can remove it in 2 minutes with an allen wrench.

Discourages but doesn't prevent theft
Installation isn't that difficult if you have a hammer drill (for installing into concrete/pavement), they even include a template to assist with drilling. First you mount the anchors, then screw the bolts in with the included allen key to attach the plate. Now the plastic cover goes over that, with smaller allen bolts, and finally press the silicon cover in place to cover those bolts. You're good to go now.Except...a thief with a set of allen wrenches or drill with bits can remove all of that in a matter of minutes. There's nothing preventing a thief from doing everything in the reverse though they'd have to take the plate thing with them to be removed later. What you have working to your advantage is things are usually stolen opportunistically, and are not planned for. I'd be willing to bet they don't have those tools on hand. Or...they could simply bring bolt cutters and cut the chain/cable your used to attach it. Maybe they wouldn't even be bright enough to figure all this out or want to take the time to.The silicon cover/flap is the weak link. Had that been metal that needed a special key to remove or something, this would have been much better. Nothing is foolproof, and a determined thief will usually succeed. This will prevent someone from walking by and seeing your nice machine and deciding to run off with it. It will give you some piece of mind that you made an attempt to discourage the average bad guy (or gal) from taking your things. But it will not actually prevent someone from dismantling this with some basic tools if they take the time to look at it and see how to remove it. All that being said, it is solid and is a worthy attempt to keep your favorite toy. So I think it's a good product, but wanted to put on my bad guy hat and let you know the problem.NOTE: I've been thinking about some options, and you can improve this yourself by replacing the bolts with some security torx or something that they're much less likely to have the right bits for or even know what they are. Come to think of it, why didn't they do this? This is the route I'm going to look into. Or if you want to really make this permanent, you could always epoxy over the bolt heads to make removal all but impossible without demolishing it all. But you're committed then and would likely need a grinder to tear it all if you ever wanted to. And no, I'm not a criminal, just like to think like one sometimes in order to make things as secure as possible.

This anchor point is massive!
I am using this shackle to secure a welder and portable generator. This anchor point says it's designed to connect to a wall or concrete slab, but keep in mind the included bolt-anchors don't work in brick. It's designed to be attached using bolts with a countersunk (tapered) head. I used regular hex-head grade 8 bolts which can only be removed by unscrewing nuts from the other side of the wall it's attached to. With hex head bolts the gray plastic cover doesn't snap all the way on, but it's cosmetic anyway. The shackle is just over half an inch thick, with about two inches clearance inside where the chain goes through. Obviously no system is totally foolproof, but if this system is defeated it will be at some other point, either the chain or the lock, rather than this anchor point that fails.Very sturdy!

YIKES THAT THING IS HUGE!
Being the organizer and leader of a large social bicycle club here in Fort Lauderdale with over 1650 members and growing daily, the safety, health and well-being of our riders is always priority one. The same goes for our mounts as well. It is discussed before every slow roll. And one thing all my members know about me is that I love customization and personalization. And if it serves both safety and customization then roll on I say! My local bike shop Cycling Forza could tell you how much they make from our patronage. And not just for technical stuff but for lots of other fun stuff as well, gadgets, toys and accessories are always welcome. I like to gift away some small safety item to our new members at the beginning of each slow roll, most often it will be a safety whistle to wear while riding. Sometimes the gifting goes to another level. It might be a lighting kit, a set of pedals or grips, locking kits, occasionally even a pair of gloves or a helmet. I encourage my members to keep their mounts very well maintained in order to not get left behind (in reality we would never let anyone get left behind). Anything that keeps you out of danger and improves the experience of riding is for us. Once again I have been duped by sly advertising and slick advert photos and illustrations. Most often this is my own fault for not paying enough attention to details and specifications. If I see something that catches my interest I just snatch it up. That was the case with this OKG Heavy Duty Ground Anchor. Yikes this thing is huge! Now it does not match the specifications stated on the webpage, I checked. But holy cow this thing is thick. As are the ground anchor pins provided, as thick as your middle fingers. There will be some heavy drilling that needs to be done. Once the ground anchors are in place the cover gets screwed on underneath the rubber strip. What you attach to it will be what matters. True thieves will be able to destroy or even remove this anchor. But keeping my bikes safe while I run into the house for whatever reason is what's important. It wouldn't stop Batman but it might stop the Joker.
