UPDATED REVIEW - Almost 2 Years Later... STILL Best Nightlights I've Owned
]It has been almost 2 years since my original review and I wanted to update my experience with these night lights. These are, hands down, the best nightlights I've owned. The LEDs in these night lights are STILL going strong and the Dusk/Dawn sensor still works. I have no issues with a noticeable loss of brightness and they still sufficiently light up my home in dim/dark settings. In fact, I love these and the Maxxima LED Night Light With White Lens (Pack Of 2) so much, I just placed another order for them for the upstairs are of my home. Hands down, THE BEST! ]Although I can sleep in complete darkness, I typically don't like to because in the event I wake up in the middle of the night for whatever reason, I like having the ability to see. Also seeing how my wife has stubbed her toe at least twice trying to find her way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, getting a nightlight was a must.I haven't owned an incandescent nightlight in a very long time and LED nightlights were my automatic choice. I do own some cheap ones I got from Walmart a few years ago that came in a 4-pack (for about $12). These nightlights actually work fine (despite having dimmed over time) but I wanted something with better light output and I moved all the Walmart nightlights upstairs for guests.Looking through dozens of LED products on Amazon, I eventually settled for the Maxxima brand due to the assortment and positive reviews but I also wanted to stay within a $12 budget (for two). In the end, I purchased Maxxima MLN-50 5 LED Night Light With Sensor (Pack of 2) and Maxxima LED Night Light With White Lens (Pack Of 2) . The reason for two assortments is I wanted the 5 LED version for hallways/kitchen area and the other version for the bedroom/bathroom area.Having owned them for about 10 days, I'm very happy to say that I'm pleased with them. The 5-LED version is cheaper by $1 and outputs an insane amount of light. The fact that the plastic window is clear, they can be "too bright" to those sensitive to light if you look directly at it or are using them in the bedroom. I would say that the light output is equavalent to maybe two or three candles lit and held side-by-side. However if you're a night owl and like leaving at least 1 lamp on at night in your house, these will do you justice and save you $$$ on your electric bill because they are bright enough to light a decent area. The Maxxima LED Night Light With White Lens (Pack Of 2) that we used in the bedroom/bathroom is also bright (brighter than the ones I got at Walmart but nowhere near as bright as the 5-LED)) but the lens is translucent white. By being translucent instead of clear, it diffuses the light to be a "glow" rather than seeing the LED directly. The high/low setting for the LED provides minimal difference (but it's there). To some, this might be too bright (as my wife said) but after about 2 days, she got used to it and can't live without them. After all, who wants stubbed toes?As for color, the 5-LED version is a "cool white" and the Maxxima LED Night Light With White Lens (Pack Of 2) version is between a "cool" & "warm". It's not yellow at all. If you know anything about light color temperature, the "cooler" you get, the more bluish it becomes. And just the opposite, the "warmer" you get, the more "yellow" the light becomes. Some people simply hate "cool white LEDs" and hopefully this helps you decide. Also, the light sensor works just as I would have expected. I can't really tell you how they work, but if there is sufficient light in the room, the nightlights won't turn on. However, if they detect any kind of "darker setting" the LEDs will begin to light up brighter & brighter the darker the room gets. I tested this personally and with the window blinds down, there is some degree of light output (very minimal I might add). To some, some might feel angry because the life of the LED will be reduced by constantly being on but in reality, you're saving $$$ even with the LEDs partially lit vs an incandescent night light AND the life of a typical LED is 50,000 hours. Convert to years, that's approximately 5.7 years (2083 days). Honestly if my nightlights last that long, I have no qualms about buying another for $12 because for a set of two, divided by 2083 days, it will cost me 7 cents a month to run for another 5.7 years.Last but not least, please note that with any LED, no matter how good the quality, they WILL dim over time. LED Lights operate through semiconductors and though they do not get hot to the touch or melt the plastic bulbs they are often placed in, a small amount of heat is released. It is important to understand how this happens. Light is produced because electrons are energized when electricity is introduced to the diodes. These electrons travel from one material to the next, but must dispel their energy before the other material can accept them. It is this expulsion of energy that produces light in the form of photons and a small amount of heat. Over time, usually very long periods of time, the semiconductors will wear out and the lights will begin to dim. They do not burn out in the literal sense, yet they will dim in time. LEDs have a life rating before they die just like incandescents but unlike incandescents, as they reach the end of their life, they will completely dim. Incandescents will just blow out on you.

The BEST lights. I keep buying more.
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've bought these. They are just that good. Very bright and have a photo sensor, so only light up when needed. I have one in a bathroom, two hallways, top amd bottom of stairs, kids room. I rarely rate anything 5 stars, so I just really love these.

I tried several different brands from Amazon that got good reviews. I had a string of C7 lights ...
I wasn't sure which LED bulbs to get, since the last ones I tried, from a local department store, were very dim. So, I tried several different brands from Amazon that got good reviews. I had a string of C7 lights (Christmas lights), so I could evaluate each side-by-side. Below is my review of each of them:G7 Power Boulder LED 0.5 Watt (5W) 15 Lumen C7 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CRHG63Y/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3These bulbs absolutely look the most like a normal 4w incandescent C7 bulb. It is hard to tell them from regular incandescent bulbs from across the room. Light output is similar, color is spot on, and they will be the closest you can get to a regular incandescent bulb. Their only downfall is that they are a little expensive at 7.45/pr - I guess you get what you pay for! They are well worth it if they last a few years.Holiday Lighting Sun Warm White Replacement Christmas bulbs http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F9BQY32/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0These bulbs are nice-looking, and look somewhat like the incandescent bulbs, but they are not quite as bright. The good news about these are that they are relatively inexpensive, think I paid around $32 for a box of 25 bulbs. I replaced bulbs in strings of Christmas lights with these. If you aren't too concerned with brightness, or cost is a major factor, these bulbs are the way to go.Triangle Bulbs 0.5-Watt C7 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KBZ3BIM/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1I really didn't like these bulbs. They are fairly bright, but it is a cool white light, not conducive to being a nightlight. They might work all right for a general replacement light, but be warned that they do not look like normal incandescents. They have a hollow globe and the LED is down at the base, so they really are not a good nightlight bulb. Their price was middle-of-the-road.Novelty Lights Patio Bulbs (orange) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P4Z4PI/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_9I got these because they were inexpensive and I wanted to try the orange lights. Orange lights are supposed to be conducive to creating a relaxing environment (like firelight), thus helping you to wind down for bedtime, as well as not waking you up if you need to get up at night to use the restroom, etc. These bulbs are indeed orange, and they do not put out a lot of light. However, they appear to be the brightest of colored LED C7 bulbs that are available. They will make a nice warm nightlight for areas where you don't need a lot of light, and the price is right.Maxxima MLN-50A Amber Nightlight http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CHIN84/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2I tried these in my quest for a warm relaxing LED nightlight. These lights are dedicated nightlights, not replacement bulbs. If these burn out, you will need to throw them away, as they do not have replaceable bulbs. However, since these are fixtures that are dedicated to LED usage, they get a lot more from the LEDs than a standard replaceable bulb would be capable of. The result is quite a lot of light coming from the fixture, at least as much as a standard incandescent nightlight (acutally, probably a little more than an incan), but only using 0.5W as opposed to the 4.2W being used by the incan nightlight. The big plus is that you get a nice warm color that is very relaxing. These lights are a good choice for replacing your standard incandescent nightlight. Price is a little expensive, but should pay for themselves if they last a few years.Maxxima white nightlights http://www.amazon.com/Maxxima-MLN-50-Night-Light-Sensor/dp/B0030CDEEY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423330924&sr=8-1&keywords=maxxima+nightlightsI tried these nightlights as a general purpose night lighting solution. These are indeed much brighter than your standard 4.2W incandescent C7 nightlight bulb. I put these in areas like the garage, various rooms where you won't be sleeping, places where it's nice to have a light where you might be passing through, but not where you will be constantly - using only 0.5W, they are not too expensive to operate. These lights are too bright to have in a bedroom or bathroom. They are a perfect solution for areas where you'd like some constant light, but not a full-fledged light bulb that would eat up your electric bill.

When you want or need an absolutely bright, specialized night light....
These are absolute top quality night lights. They are very bright, and are not suitable for bedrooms or for any area that you would want to keep mostly dark. I use mine in an office bathroom, at the foot of a stairway where visibility is important for safety, and in storage sheds (outbuildings). If you want good nighttime lighting all the time, and particularly, if you don't want to go around switching lights on and off, these provide superb nighttime visibility. Nothing else I have tried compares, and the price for the cool white is great, considering the quality.

Very bright
Very bright light, which is what I wanted! It is not overly large which is nice, sits almost flush to the wall. However, it seems to need a lot of light to sense daytime. It’s in our upstairs hallway, and even with all the bedroom & bathroom blinds open it still stays on throughout the day.

Maxxima MNL-50 is a perfect night light
Cute enough to impress me. Works perfect ; it has very reasonable setting of the sensor. Because of the LED's, which are bright enough, I am getting ample light in my walkway.Impressed, I am planning to try motion sensor version of the product (Maxxima MNL-55) .

very bright night light
I bought this based on previous reviews that it is very bright. My DD is afraid of the dark. Night light in her room is just not an option at this time. We have this light in the hallway and with her door open, it casts enough light into her room that she isn't scared. It also lights up the hallway well in the event my other child gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Overall, I'm super happy with this purchase. I will not recommend putting this light in a bedroom though. It is too bright!

Perfect for seniors
Bought these for my mom for the middle of the night trips To the washroom. It is EXACTLY what she needed. I put one by the stairs and one just outside the washroom. I don’t have to worry about her getting to the switch to turn on the light and bumping into anything or falling on the stairs. My mother in law wants them now. They are just the right amount of brightness.
