Definitely Worth The Price
This is a basic line cutter /weed whacker, but it performs, at least for me, thus far, like what pros use. I had some medical rehab issues and couldn't cut or maintain my back yard and it quickly got out of hand in the heat and heavy rains in the upper Midwest this year. My yard was grossly overgrown with 12+ inch weeds, weeds with branches(!), weed laden grasses 8+inches in my small patch of backyard lawn, unkempt bushes, and a fruit tree with fronds overgrown so much its overhanging was touching the ground and and weeds 8 - 12inches dominating my brick tile patio. This little baby wrecked the weeds completely. I didn't even need the mower for the small lawn area (grass area is about 10ft by 25ft)... It trimmed my lawn neatly and efficiently.. It cut all the weeds to the ground flush. Only one tree like weed needed to be cut manually with shears. Everything else was done by the Black and Decker string trimmer, even the tree fronds! It's powerful enough to do areas magnitudes larger than my small yard, it. It doesn't get bogged down or overheated from having to cut thru thick, heavy grasses or fat 6ft tall sunflowers or gnarly patches of fat grass & clusters of dandelions. It just tears thru it all like butter! Yup, like butta! it's lightweight. And adjustable to your height and comfort, so it's easy on your back. It's handle is comfortable and perfectly placed for navigating the area you want to cut with accuracy. It's line feed button works perfectly when you need fresh line, so you don't have to stop cutting or bend over or get your hands dirty. Simply push the button and it releases a little more line as you cut. It cut thru the tree fronds almost as easily as it turned weeds into mulch. It's a great little line cutter and well worth the 50 dollar price point. If you have a small yard or you just need to cut weeds, you don't need more power or more features. Just remember, it's not as accurate or as neat as other methods. It's a blunt tool, but it works for just cutting down overgrowth or creating a path. Don't forget to wear work gloves and safety glasses (Black and Decker has smoked lens & even mirrored lens 😎 goggles! Oh, DO NOT wear shorts when you use this thing! Ow! It sends debris flying!

WOW! strong durable device
Pros: 1. This weed eater as we call it here in Texas is amazing, its strong, easy to use and light weight. 2. The wheel helps alot to have that perfect edge as if it were an edger, 3. the guard prevents rocks and grass from hitting you directly. 4. Self feeding string, just presss the button and voila! more string comes out. 5. comfortable grip and ease of use. Cons: 1. its Corded got my extension cord wrapped first time using it and that can be dangerous with a live current, thankfully I wasn't electroctued but still. 2. Would be perfect if it was cordless, YES I KNOW THOSE EXIST WITH OTHER BRANDS, but I don't need a full size one for my small lawn. 3. length, I am 6 foot and i have to bend over somewhat to properly use it, I really wish it extended longer for safety and for us taller guys. 4. The amount of string it takes (the cartridges can be purchased here on amazon) is very little, its almost using 1 every 2 uses on your lawn. Would definietly recommend it to anybody wanting it for a small lawn, but would not recommend for somebody on a big plot of land or a farm unless you have a 100 foot extension cord,

So far so good, but the string feed mechanism needs EXTREMELY precisely manufactured spools
I bought this unit because I despise battery powered lawn equipment. They all have inadequate battery life for my size yard, and from what I can gather, the battery life declines immediately and only gets worse. To add insult to injury, the battery is a significant part of the price, so replacing it is almost as expensive as a new piece of equipment. So my lawnmower and now my trimmer is corded. This is one of the few corded units you can buy now, since clearly most people do not share my hatred of battery powered devices. My previous trimmer was an older Black and Decker model similar to this one that lasted about 10 years. Still not sure what killed it. This model of Black and Decker trimmer does very well. It has even more power than my old one, and seems to be slightly lighter. The push button advance works OK, but you have to have the trimmer revved up to maximum to get the line to feed. The good news is it feeds relatively slowly, so one push gets enough out to continue. Two pushes usually gets it to the point that the trim line is hitting the cut off blade. The original Black and Decker spool of trim line had very good durability and cuts even hard, thick grass. I live in drought-stricken South Texas, so my grass is essentially prairie grass that becomes like basket-weaving material if allowed to grow up a bit. This trimmer cut through it as well or better than my old trimmer. (That's another reason to buy corded power. Battery equipment would surely gag on that.) I have only used it for a few weeks, so I cannot say if it will be as durable. I hope so. Once the original spool of trimmer line was finished, I replaced it with a spool that was listed on Amazon as a typically bought item. I think it must be Chinese. When I put it in my trimmer, the line feed mechanism immediately ceased to function, causing me to look on Google and You Tube to find out all the reasons why this wasn't working. What I discovered was #1, I WAS indeed putting it in correctly. Also, I did NOT have any foreign debris in the mechanism and the little weight on the ratchet arm was intact. All that was left was the spool as the culprit. So I took the string from the new Chinese reel and re-wound it onto the original Black and Decker spool and put that in my trimmer. The result was perfect operation of the feed mechanism. Therefore, i can say with relative confidence that if you have this trimmer, it is good, but KEEP the original Black and Decker Spools. Do not throw them away when they run out of string. If you are rich, buy only B and D spools. If you are not, like me, then buy a few Black and Decker spools, and then wind them with cheaper string.

Small but mighty
I was looking for something that was small but mighty. Small enough for me to handle and mighty enough to trim overgrown weeds: this weed trimmer is it! I'm not very knowledgeable in trimmer and trimmer parts so pardon my terminologies. The trimmer is a 1 string trimmer, it isn't like others with the two strings coming out of it. It's not a bump head, I've grown to dislike those, it has an easy feed button that's so convenient. Please note it will stop the trimmer to eject cord safely, then you can begin using it again. Also you can string the trimmer reel all at once instead of stopping to string it over and over again. It doesn't extend much. I think the pictures in the listing give an idea of how far it extends. I'm 5'7 for reference and sometimes I have to bend slightly to get close cuts. If you're a bit taller it may be a bit uncomfortable for you. It doesn't feel cheap at all. Assembly of the handle and guard was rather easy. For an idea of It's power, I had overgrown grass up to about the top of the first pane of siding in the picture all along the wall of the house and it took less than 30 seconds to clear that out. Also I had some weeds that grew to be like thick sticks along the fence and it took nothing for the trimmer to take them down. In terms of noise, it sounds like a small gas trimmer, it's not very quiet like other electric trimmers I've heard. I love the little thing. Anyone can use it! It's so easy to use. I cannot stress that enough. It's perfect for my medium sized lot.

works great
I had one of these before it lasted about 4 years. I did work it hard. I love these weed eaters. So easy to put together with just one screw, took two minutes and it was ready to go. I tried the battery ones but the battery would run out of juice before I was done and I would have to wait for it to charge. With the corded one I don't have to worry about that. The string is easy to replace when out. The edging feature means I don't have to get the edger out and mess with multiple pieces of equipment. I love this weed eater. It adjusts from my height use to my husband's In just seconds. Great product for the price, and the replacement strings are every reasonable.

I love B & D
I am disabled and need something light weight, but powerful to last through no only the duration I run the motor, but strong enough to cut down thick weeds and berry bushes. I beat the hell out of my equipment. This is my second, only because I lent mine out last year and it back broken. It was 6 years old, never repaired, never even cleaned. I was so impressed with my first, that I bought this second. I did tried buy a product inbetween. It was almost a toy compared to this, plus a whole lot less comfortable. It couldn't stand up to my forms of abuse on tool. This was an open box, returned, or refirbish to get it for the price I did. It is a wonderful product. Light weight, powerful, able to take my punishing ways. To me the difference between gas and electric is huge. Gas is much more noisey, dealing with the proper gas and additive, in those ones that need the additive, and having the issues with getting gas (pull back the nozzle, then either deal with gas smell all the way home, or deal with diaper wipes. Then shlep it home, then the hassle of filling the weed wacker multiple times a session. Plus, the fumes get to me. I have found corded electric is usually much more lightweight and balanced than battery operated. Plus the hassle of charging the batteries, having to get more batteries on top of the usually much higher prices than corded. I would much rather deal with the cord, which once you get used to using corded, it is rarely an issue. When looking at corded machines, they, usually, have a lower original price tag than gas or battery powered, being usually much quieter than a gas powered machine, they are just as powerful, if not more so, than some gas and battery operated machines, and putting out for a 100' heavy duty outdoor electrical extention cord, 100' usually is long enough to deal with most yards, which I can also used with other things, like an electric mower, (why yes, I do own one, and it's B & D) Christmas lights in the winter, and your pool in the summer, if your lucky enough to own one, plus, ect... I personally think that corded electric wins hands down. I think this weed wacker is a good investment, but that is up for you to decide.

This B&D Electric Trimmer does a Decent Job - BUT, the Plastic String Disappears Quickly
I wish that this trimmer started up somewhat slower and the hair-trigger is too soft so you will inadvertently turn it on at the wrong time! B&D needs to either make stronger string - or redesign the overly hungry feed system. Annoyingly, you will go through lots of costly rolls of the string somewhat quickly!

WOW!!! I am really impressed!
So to all those folks who use gas powered lawn tools, this isn't for you. I have a relatively small yard (front and back) and the time it takes me to MOW both is about 30 mins (or less). I spend even less time trimming. However, I trim my hard because I hate the look of grass growing over onto the concrete. With this trimmer, it's sooo easy to do this with. What impressed me was that this is actually a lot more powerful than I thought it was going to be. I've been used a black and decker 18v trimmer for the last 9 years and I think it's on it's last leg. It no longer spools properly and the battery charging is so annoying. I thought I'd try this trimmer out since it's corded and I don't need to deal with batteries anymore. I didn't realize how much more powerful it would be. My only gripe about this product is the manual spool feeder. My older 18V had an auto feeder but I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. Perhaps the auto spooler was wasting string? Anyways, having to press the feed button is a little annoying but I guess this is first world problems. It's not like it's hard to do, you just have to pay more attention at seeing how deep the string is cutting. After that, it's just pressing a button. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase at such a low price. Hopefully it will last me another 9 years like my 18V.

Don't buy this trimmer. The "Easy Feed" button is a "do nothing" button for an additional $57
The description says that the Easy Feed button "allows you to Advance your line with the push of a button". Not really !! From the description I assumed that the button actually caused the string to advance. After this trimmer was delivered I discovered that all that the button does is turn the power off while the button pressed, and allows the AFS (auto feed system) to let out a bit more string. I.e. momentarily pressing the button does EXACTLY the same thing as momentarily releasing the run trigger. As a matter of fact releasing the trigger momentarily is easier and less awkward. So the button adds no additional feature but they charge an additional $57 for the "do nothing" button when compared to the identical trimmer without the button. When I discovered this I decided to return it and get the less expensive and basically identical model. I requested to return the trimmer twice and the message from the vendor said that they would advise within 48 hours how to return. They didn't !! Both times they simply cancelled the return request. I hate being ripped off but it looks like they have done that to me and I'm stuck with it. Don't make the same mistake. Buy the lower priced model or buy from someone else.
