Lionel Deluxe Track Pack for FASTRACK 5x10 Feet Layout

I have opted to lay out a post-war Lionel train set for my 2.5-yearold grandson at Christmastime with an upgrade of the O-27 track. The packaged FasTrack seemed an efficacious option, but after installing the track on a 5x10 bench I found that the power at distances away from the terminal track was still degraded. In accordance with a Lionel YouTube video, I considered placing short jumper wires between track sections - but could not without modifying the straight track sections. Why? Because the ends of those track lack the cutout that allows the jumpers to pass between sections. Instead, I went with power drops to a bus wire. As well, the end of one rail of a curved section was out of tolerance and caused rolling stock to thump against the raised rail. After reading an OGR post that suggested a brass hammer could be used to bang the track into shape, I ordered a replacement section. (I mitigated that problem in the short term by changing the direction of forward travel on the track.)

Old Lionel train set from the 50's. My grandson loves trains so I put out my older train tracks, which kept shorting out. Bought this one and it was easy to install with quicksnaps. Also had to get another transformer because the older one failed along with the old metal tracks.

Great customer service. Package was short the terminal track and they shipped one out immediately to me. All track was perfect and new. Packed in plain brown box. I am happy with the purchase.

Very tight fit to connect and disconnect requiring force needed to connect or disconnect. Otherwise track works and looks great! Besides I’m not planning to assemble and disassemble a lot.

As my headline indicates, this is a very solid track and it provides a lot of stability for the train. I use it on carpet and the train literally never derails at any speed. The pieces fits together much snugger than the old original track, which provides for better electricity flow throughout. I did buy the connector locks (from a separate vendor). I'm not sure I needed them but they do work well. Even on carpet the track pieces never work loose. The new track is a little louder than the old one, but that's a small price to pay for the increased reliability.

Do you want to expand your layout? Can you live without the "official box" the FastTrack comes in? Then this is the pack for you! Brand new track, packaged great. Sure it's pricey, (it's Lionel FastTrack) but with tremendous bang for the buck and much cheaper than getting it piece by piece. Kit comes with examples of possible layouts - best to modify as needed to meet your floor space. (Pic is what I ended up with fitting it under my tree - needed some extra short pieces because of the layout I used - the kitten is not included in the kit!). - I will be ordering more from this vendor!

I received the Fastrack kit today and assembled it, which was very easy, but there is one piece of track missing...a 10 inch straight track. Contacted the seller, Ornaments for You, and they shipped a piece out the next day. Great customer service. Other than that, the track works perfectly.

Packing box is insufficient as sides were crushed and broken through, exposing track pieces.Looks reused since outside label specifies 10" straights only. Inside packing was just shredded paper.Some pieces are used because they left black marks on my hands. Closer inspection showed deformities like wheels were spinning without moving.Terminal track is literally a straight piece with a not so good cutout and a cheap wire barely hanging on one side. Looks exactly like all the other straight pieces from the bottom. Definitely not a terminal with a block section where I can plug in the round power connection.Very unsatisfactory quality control with unprofessional packing material.
