Safari Ltd Wild Safari North American Wildlife Opossum with Babies

Mommy Possum walks across my desk, babies on her back, supervising me as I work and delighting my friends when they come to visit me. Too delicate for a toy, she and her babies are a lovely hardy little figurine very suitable for adults and for older kids to enjoy as art. For that reason, I would recommend this delightful possum family for those 10 and over, or for very caring kids. The detail is exquisite, and each endearing little baby has his or her own expression on his or her sweet little face, dainty hands clinging to Mom's hair. However, this poor mother lacks a pouch! For this reason, I gave her only three stars for educational value, because, due to my activity in the Opossum Society of the United States, I know very well that all female opossums have pouches, and all male opossums make very poor fathers. Opossums are single mothers! Still, I highly recommend this charming opossum group of friends, and, carefully wrapping them in a T-shirt, I took them on vacation with me - they seem to travel well. I gave it to my doctor, as a fun gift for her husband. "Inside joke" It accomplished all that was intended and more. Her husband and she just loved it.. I thought I was ordering a stuffed opossum, but turned out it was even better. They both got a major kick out of it. They are both animal advocates so it was fitting for sure. Can't beat the price on this either.

I purchased this as a gag gift for someone who had 4 opossums invade their house last summer. I was in a hurry and thought this was going to be soft and furry, so actually kept it for myself. My mother recently had an opossum eating cat food set out for feral cats so I have a feeling this is going to end up in her possession. Having worked for a high end retail toy company years ago who sold a lot of Safari figurines, I can say this is a very well made, highly detailed representation of these critters.

This was listed under pet toys. It is hard plastic best suited for who knows what. NOT a pet toy. Not sure what this is intended for, but again, not a pet toy. If you need a plastic, sharp edged piece of nothing, this will fit the bill.

i bought this for my mom as a inside joke type thing neway i thought it was a stuffed animal an when i got itin the mail i found out nope its not a stuffed animal at all so i can backto amazon and bought another possum that is stuffed :) neway this lil figurine is super cute and can sit on my moms desk as she works ...

The color and detail on the Possum are perfect, however, I am used to Schleich toys and all their animals are proportionate to each other, so the horses and elephants are big, but the baby pig and ducklings are small, so real life proportions. With that said, this possum is WAY too big. I ordered some birds along with it, from Safari as well, and this Possum is bigger than the bald eagle. If you get this as an individual toy, you will love it, if you put it in a collection of other animals, it will stick out like a prehistoric giant rat.

We found a small baby possum in the yard ,unable to care for herself. My husband and I raised her until she was large enough to be released. This tiny model is a reminder of her. It is perfect and shows exactly how a mother possum carries her little ones after they leave the pouch but are still to small to run by her side.I love this little model.

I was drawn to this particular opossum because I have had other wild animals done by this company and been very pleased with them and because the babies hanging on her back as she walks are so sweet. I wanted it for a display of woodland creatures among trees that didn't seem complete without an opossum. This one was perfect.
