Good option for easy carrying of laptop
Well I've thoroughly tested this rucksack. It's been to London for Belfast with me several times and on a long haul trip to Taiwan. The rucksack is of excellent quality with many pockets and compartments. It holds large laptops which are well protected. Also as a rucksack carrying a heavy laptop is easy.My criticisms are that I think there are a few too many storage pockets. It's a bit of a search to find a USB drive for example that could have been placed in any compartment! I'd also like to see a bit more space for clothes. There is a second zipped section from the one to hold the laptop. This could hold essentials for an overnight stay. It's a bit small though. If this was increased is size this rucksack would be near perfect.

Too much design, too little practicality
This Dicota notebook case is backpack-styled, and large enough to hold pretty much any notebook on the market. It is stated as being suitable for 17" notebooks, and the large padded compartment will easily hold a big laptop. There is an elastic strap to hold smaller notebooks in place, but you really don't want to be using this case for your 11" MacBook Air - it's just too big!Unfortunately, there isn't much else good to say about the case. From a practical point of view, it manages an inverse TARDIS trick - it's huge on the outside, but tiny inside. Yes, the main compartment is large and generously-padded, but there is very little space available anywhere else in the case, which is odd when you see how bulky the outside is. There is a second full-size compartment, but it is very shallow, and you won't get anything thicker than an A4 pad in it. Other than that, you get a pocket on the front which is obviously shaped to hold a personal CD player (which might have been a good idea 10 years ago) and a small additional pocket which, again, won't hold anything bulky. There is the odd concession to organisation - a few mesh pockets on the inside - but there's no real thought gone into the design. As this is a backpack, it does have well-padded shoulder straps and a hip belt, which are comfortable, but this is then all spoiled by a chest strap which is non-adjustable and far too high up, such that you risk choking yourself if the bag slips down your back. This is a really poor feature - a good chest strap makes a rucksack a lot more comfortable, but this is clearly just a styling feature on this bag.Speaking of styling, the looks of the bag are pretty dreadful. The outside is festooned with webbing and clips - it's as if the manufacturers decided to try and make it look like a mountaineering rucksack rather than a laptop case by copying a few features, but this has failed completely (not least due to very few mountaineering packs having the aforementioned CD player case...) Elegant simplicity would have been vastly preferable - this bag just looks a mess.On the plus side, the construction of the bag seems pretty sturdy, and the padding on it would provide a lot of protection to the notebook inside it. But overall, I really can't recommend this bag to anyone - it's too big and bulky for the ill-thought-out space inside, and I can't see the styling appealing to anyone. I was in my local Apple Store yesterday, and looking at the range of backpacks they sell for carrying laptops, there wasn't a single one they sold that I wouldn't have chosen in preference to this.

large laptop backpack
this is a large laptop backpack for up to 17.3in sizeit is very well made with lots of hard padding (like a suitcase shell)so your laptop will be very well protectedhas 2 compartments,1 for laptop and 1 for other stuff/ accessoriesthe material is water repellenthas shoulder straps and a waist strapit does look like a hiking backpack as already statedso thats its downfall and i think too bigbut still great if you like big bag

Brilliant for everyday or hiking
I was excited about receiving this backpack which could act as a good bag for everyday use and I was not disappointed. This bag was designed for carrying around a laptop computer among every day things probably mostly just around the city. But it also seems designed for rigourous outside use in the countryside whether hiking or even perhaps climbing as it has a few carabiner's attached.Made of strong durable materials I imagine this will last a long time even through heavy use and their is plenty of padding which means it will be comfortable to carry. The it has good adjustable straps which means you can secure it around your shoulders and waist easily so you are able to walk hand free or carrying other things and these straps seem comfortable, tough and easy to adjust.I like to carry many things around with me which I may or may not use in daily life but its always reassuring to have them there just in case. And this bag is perfect for this with lots of external and internal little pockets. It has a large one on the back which can carry many things and a medium one above this which also has a small section for headphone leads to be put through should you wish to put your music player in your back whilst listening to it and it is designed well to keep rainwater out. On the inside there are several stretchable netting pockets useful for putting smaller things in you do not want swimming in the main compartment. It has two main compartments. The one that goes against your back is designed for carrying around a laptop and this is huge. It can easily fit the biggest laptop and may own little iPad goes in which masses of extra space. Even with a 17" laptop you can probably fit some other things in this compartment with it. It is very well padded as well as having a hardening section to protect the contents from damage if you drop your bag or something smashed into itThe only slight disappointment is the size of the main compartment. It's not much bigger than the laptop section. I carry a pack-lunch to work which might get a little squashed in this section. But with a little re-arranging I am sure it will be fine. It still has plenty of depth and width so added to the other section and pockets you can carry a lot here. All the compartments above strong durable zips and it seems to be nice and waterproof when all sealed up and the backpack is of a pleasant black and grey design.Overall I am very impressed with this and look forward to using it for a very long time. If I could I would give it 4.5 stars for the slight disappointment in the main compartments size. But the the rest of the backpack more than makes up for this so I am happy to round it up to 5 stars.
