As a comic and sci-fi fan, one of my ongoing frustrations is that a lot of merchandise is just ostentatious logos slapped on everyday objects. I don't want a big T-shirt that says Marvel or Star Wars - I want the cool in-universe toys and clothing sold in Galaxy's Edge. Merchandise that's thoughtful and interesting holds a lot more appeal for me.This tumbler applies that philosophy to the character of Loki. Imagine, much like a royal commission in the UK, if Loki commissioned a custom tumbler to use himself: it might turn out much like this. It features a subtle norse design and color scheme that's very reminiscent of Loki in the TV series and movies without being overtly Marvel (tm).The surface of the cup is matte, which is a bit surprising at first but which we've grown to like. It is definitely a different textural feel than usual for a product like this, but the surprising, slightly unusual feel is very appropriate for Loki.Like all Corkcicle tumblers, this does a great job of keeping your beverage warm or cold for an extended period of time. This one goes a bit above and beyond with a classy, high quality magnetic coffee lid that stays open and closed without sliding around. The flat sides make it easy to grab, and the cup doesn't sweat or weep, keeping your table completely dry no matter what's inside. It's a very large cup, holding 24 ounces, so keep that in mind - this is not petite and will take up a lot of counter or cabinet space, although I do think it would fit in most American car cupholders.We appreciated the inclusion of both a hot cup lid and a cold cup lid with a straw, which helps defray some of the extraordinarily high cost of this product. Quality tumblers cost money, but this is kind of pushing the limits a bit, so at least they didn't nickel and dime you on accessories.One con is the very visible Corkcicle logo, which unfortunately pulls you out of the story and back into the real world of advertising and brands. I really wish they'd left this on the bottom of the tumbler and let the character art shine on the side. At least they resisted the temptation to also brand it as Marvel...The other con, and probably the only thing that gives me pause about recommending the cup, is that it isn't dishwasher safe. Nobody has time for hand-washing tumblers, and we've carefully edited our collection down to ones that are properly sealed so they can survive multiple trips through the dishwasher. We did accidentally run it through once and it seems no worse for the wear, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.All in all, this is a great accessory for a Loki fan wanting to show a bit of their personality in their daily life without overt Marvel logos. This tumbler could easily be at home in a boardroom or lawyer's office, and that's an achievement that makes it a strong recommendation from us. We want to keep seeing more merchandise like this!
