Surprisingly Good
I'm not your typical One Direction fan, I'm 46, I have a daughter who loves 1D and who is more their age.I've always brushed them off as another Cowell product (mainly because I'm not the biggest fan of him ) but...I loved You and I off the last album, it was the only song I'd taken any notice of from them while flicking through music channels and I loved it.So, I decided to give FOUR a go after hearing 'Steal My Girl' and watching the video on the music channels (LOVE seeing people having a good time and they looked like they were enjoying themselves)I have to say FOUR is the first album in a while (from almost anyone) that I have listened to every song, a couple were growers that I was not to sure of initially but I can genuinely say I love this album, I love every song (a couple more than others)For me it was an album about falling for/being attracted to someone or being in love and it's just incredibly likeable.Since then, I've been educated about how hard these young men work......yes they're incredibly fortunate (but I get the impression they're down to earth and they know they're fortunate and incredibly lucky to be experiencing all that they are doing) but they do work hard because as we all know and they know (and more importantly Simon Cowell's £ signs know) it won't last forever.I'm actually looking forward to seeing what the next album offers.

Pleasantly surprised
I don't really listen to boybands, however the One Direction lads have proved I should broaden my music listening horizons.I can't criticise any of the tracks in any way, all make their mark in strengthening the feel of the album, plus it's nice to know these lads have actually written some of the songs!!Got to check out 1D's other albums now!!

Oen Direction have grown up and made a great album!
Too old for their first 2 albums but decided I liked the band after my sister bought me Midnight Memories-a fun, solid pop/rick album. With FOUR it's obvious how hard the band has worked-they all have writing credits on this-and it shows. Much like Kelly clarkson's 'My December' this feels like the band finally breaking free from the X-Factor and finding their own sound. Particular highlights are the Springsteen sounding 'Ready to Run', the Michael Jackson influenced and very sexy 'Stockholm Syndrome', 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go' which is so 80's it should be blasted out of a boombox held aloft by John Cusack, and the Ed Sheeran penned ballad '18'. I really hope this album isn't their swansong as it shows how much potential these boys have. Seriously, give it a go. I promise you will be pleasantly surprised. This is not an album for teeny-boppers!
