Brief Background: These outlet covers are exactly what I’ve been wanting, to replace the original plastic outlet covers on my two floor outlets! Back when I originally began searching for a replacement cover, I knew what I wanted way back then. But I couldn’t find a clean, modern, stainless steel (round) outlet cover back then, so we just lived with the ugly plastic ones for years. I can’t begin to tell you how many small items we accidentally dropped into the gaping hole where the old plastic covers had come unglued from the laminate floor. And because of the electrical wiring underneath the cover (that could be seen), we were afraid to attempt to retrieve anything that rolled into those holes!Product Review: This product consists of both the outlet cover and the box under it that holds the electrical wires. So you should be able to remove your old cover and the box under it (being sure the power is off). Then replace the old box with the new one that comes with this product.It should be as simple as removing the existing outlet covers, pulling out the old box, installing the new electrical box in the floor, and then screwing in the gorgeous, new stainless steel covers. But nothing ever is, is it?The new box (that accompanied this outlet cover) wouldn’t fit inside the existing hole in my floor because the hole wasn’t deep enough for some reason. So the electricians had to cut the bottom of the box to make it fit inside the hole. But none of that jeopardized the integrity of the box inside the hole in any way.Once they fed the electrical wires properly they used the screws that came with the product to screw it down to the floor and into the box. The result..,,,! It’s like the difference between night and day. To go from that cheap, brown, plastic outlet cover, to this beautifully sleek, clean, modern design, is just amazing!My first suggestion is: Use a real electrician.My second suggestion is: Don’t freak out immediately if the box doesn’t slide right into the existing hole, perfectly on the first try. It may need to be modified like mine did. But it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t fit perfectly. Once everything is installed properly, you can’t even see this box.My third, and last suggestion is: There is a little top that goes on the outlet when not in use. It’s so cool looking! To plug something into it, you have to unscrew the top. I’d suggest placing it right there next to the outlet when something is plugged into it. OR choose an exact spot (a drawer) to be the designated spot for safekeeping, so you don’t lose it.This outlet cover is designed to last for decades. It’s so well-made and absolutely beautiful! Also, you can’t beat the price!

Had to replace several of these when redoing the floor (original boxes were poorly supported plastic things that had been JB welded in place). Needed the support and structure of the internal box, but they were about a quarter inch too tall for our needs. We managed to cut the bottom off with the bandsaw and it fit like a glove after that. Very sturdy for walking on and we feel a lot better about them not caving in or cracking (like the plastic ones did) when walked or stood on them. Love the support arms that hold it from shifting in place. Seem very sturdy, the color works nicely with the tile, and they are fairly low profile while still being supportive. Would love a 2-pack option with a discounted price, but since these fit our needs, we bought two. Very nice that the company had an instructional video so we could see it "in action" before buying to determine that it did meet our needs. Would recommend for this type of application in the future.

The unit looks good, but it seems that this particular item is not designed for tiles floors. There is room around the unit and the danger is that if weight is applied to a small area the tile may break. We filled the open room around the bottom part of the unit with closed cell foam and hope that is enough to prevent any breakage. Otherwise the unit looks good installed and is easy to use.

I have to put in two floor plugs in my condo and has been a little tricky. The electrician just came and looked at the kit and he said it will work and it is a good kit. The measurements are accurate so highly recommended this if you have floor plugs in a townhouse.
