Works great, no side effects
This iron supplement is fantastic and raised my severely low iron levels to normal in just three months of taking daily. I have a very sensitive stomach, as well as IBS-C and this doesn't bug my stomach at all. I take it every morning either on an empty stomach or with a bit of apple sauce and wait an hour before any caffeine and it works amazing. Very satisfied and worth the price.

easy on the tummy and absorbs well
Drugstore brand iron supplements always made me vomit so I looked for other options. Thorne brand iron has never caused me any tummy issues, even when taken on an empty stomach. It absorbs well and my iron levels are normal now. All the Thorne supplements I’ve used have been wonderful.

Good product
It was the only iron supplement that did not make me nauseated, and so worked - my ferritin level came back up to normal.

Raised my iron levels!
This iron raised both my Ferratin as well as my iron levels in a very short amount of time with minimal or no irritation. This was after trying 2 other types of iron. I made sure to take it on an empty stomach with vitamin C and hydrate as well!

Only iron supplements my GI has been able to handle
I had severe anemia. Doctors told me take FE 65mg elemental iron. I could not tolerate those, even the "slow FE" type. I did my own research on brands, types of iron, bind agents, and helpers to potentate the iron. My symptoms were dizziness, fatigue, vertigo, nausea, neuropathy in my hands, constant stomach ache, and inability to eat much. I told the doctors my stomach didn't do well on the 65mg typical supplement. Based on the information I read (some from Thorne's own marketing team admittedly) I chose this product. So far, so good. Well tolerated and many of the above symptoms disappeared or abated. Why only 4 stars you ask, because with 25mg elemental iron this isn't meeting the dose I need to increase my blood iron levels a much a needed. To be fair, that my bodies fault for not tolerating 65 mg of elemental iron. My doc told me this wasn't good enough if it didn't have 50-65 elemental due to my need. It is obviously improving my anemia due to the rapid relief from symptoms I had for years. The doctor showed me a graph of the last 10 year iron levels from lab work. The wise in iron indeed is not dramatic yet. After reading reviews here I asked the nurse practitioner if I could try taking two of these a day before going to the harsher formulations. She said she didn't know and couldn't immediately find any reference on this formulation that met the office's standards for peer reviewed, published data. We know we often won't find that for supplements since there are no obscene profits or patents on vitamins and supplements (it's a crime they don't tell us the true requirements for vitamin D3 when 10,000IU a day could significantly boost immune in northern states in the winter). The NP said "I advise you to take one with 65mg. I can't say for sure if you should go off label with this formulation." I told her: "I'm going to try it because this has been a game changer in how I feel and has nearly no bad side effects. Just a couple days in to 2 a day. It bothers my stomach a bit more. In fact, about twice as much as one pill (go figure). I'm going to stick with because I think this 2 pills of Thorne Research - Iron Bisglycinate will bring 50 mg Iron Supplement in an effective formula. I just hope it isn't too much.I've bought several Thorne products and I am growing fond and trusting of the brand. I recommend you try these but please get clear info from doctors on severity of your need. The NP suggested I do more research on Iron Bisglycinate and other improved absorption and we will monitor the blood iron levels. FWIW I started this treatment (with one pill) at the same time as Vitamin B12 Cyanocobalamin injections. There was some magic one/two punch with the two treatments that seemed to wipe away years of pain and discomfort. Check you B12, Iron, D and other critical vitamins/minerals. Sometimes the answer is a relative affordable over-the-counter readily available supplement.

Fixed my SEVERE iron deficiency!
I recently started seeing a functional medicine doctor to address some issues I've been having and the first they had me do was a full blood workup. When the results came back one of the most glaring issues was my blood iron (ferritin) level. Ideal levels for a woman my age should be 100-150+ ug/L. My level was 18!! The doctor asked me how I managed to get out of bed in the morning and how I can go up and down stairs without fainting, let alone live my life! It's amazing how you can get used to such a poor quality of life when it creeps up on you and you don't know any different. I immediately started taking iron at triple the recommended dose to make up for my severe deficiency and stop the 'iron leak' I seem to have in my body. After bouncing around between a few different supplements, I have settled on this one and I love it! I take 2 per day (that's what my doctor recommended even though the bottle says 1) and I no longer get dizzy and light headed, I don't bruise as easily as I used to and I just feel so much better over all! If you're deficient in iron, some of the symptoms you might experience are fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, difficulty concentrating, difficulty regulating body temperature or often feeling cold, pale skin, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, headaches, hair loss, restless leg syndrome, itchiness, more frequent bouts of illness and ringing, hissing or buzzing in your ears. My doctor says almost EVERYONE is deficient in iron, so this might be something you should take even if you're NOT experiencing these symptoms! One of the reasons I chose this particular brand is because it uses a chelate which is more highly absorbable by the body than cheaper carbonates, oxides, sulfates and phosphates and it doesn't have a bunch of crap additives in it. Additionally, the pills are TINY and super easy to swallow! I use some other Thorne supplements as well and really like them. That being said, not ALL of Thorne's stuff is the best of the best, but when it comes to my iron levels, this has worked wonders and I can definitely recommend!I sincerely hope this review has been helpful to someone else! And yes, I pay full price for this. I get it monthly in my subscribe and save. Feel free to ask any questions!

So far, so good — no stomach issues, and that’s a win for me!
I started taking this iron supplement during pregnancy because my hemoglobin levels were low. I haven’t had my blood retested yet, so I don’t know if it has helped my levels — but what I can say is that it’s been really gentle on my stomach. That was my biggest concern! The first couple of days I felt a little nauseous (I’m on a high dose prescribed by my doctor), but that passed quickly. Now I feel fine and have no problems going to the bathroom, which is a huge relief. Honestly, just the fact that it doesn’t cause digestive issues is a win-win for me so far!
