Awesome (cheaper) alternative
This buy was a long shot for me. I had this plan for a fun holiday scavenger hunt for my wife, but I didn't want to spend $200 of our Christmas present limit on what would essentially be another clue. So, I did a little digging and I found this smaller, cheaper version. At $50 (when I bought it), this cryptex was a steal. It is only about an inch or so smaller than the expensive version, and isn't as intricately designed, but if you just want a fun puzzle box to hide notes and stuff in, you can't go wrong. It is made of sturdy metal (die cast), and despite plastic dials, does not feel cheap. The code is really easy to set, and if you're anything like me, you'll change it a lot just for the fun of messing with it.I don't see any other reviews for this particular item yet, so if you have any questions about it, feel free to comment and I'll try to get back to you. It really is a nice alternative to the more expensive version.

Well made, odd packaging.
This is very well made and pretty cool. It would be nice if the wheels ratcheted, but for $39, probably can't expect everything. The packaging is odd. I suspect these were part of the DVD set of a few years ago and were removed and resold. Still, they are unused. Recoding the cryptex is easy as long as you have a tiny phillips screwdriver and good eyesight. We are using it as Christmas gifts to hold money.

Like others reviews stated
Like others reviews stated, the screws don't quite work correctly . Otherwise, it serves its purpose. I used it to contain a clue for a scavenger's hunt and for that purpose, it worked. I doubt it would hold up over multiple uses though based upon the somewhat shoddy construction

A nice item but not worth the cost
Hi there,I hope you are well.I really like the idea. I was inspired by Seth Skorkowski and I use it when I DM for my players. My complaint is that the quality is just so bad. I don't know if it shows on the picture, but the paint is already smudging off and the tiny screwdriver which came with it was useless. I had to use my own. Furthermore one of the screws was damaged which made it even harder to use. I think in the U.S. this costs ca 50$, but since I live in Sweden I had to pay close to 100$. In conclusion, wonderful idea, just not worth the price.Sincerely,Alicia from Sweden

Pretty cool.
It's pretty easy to break into. There are just two small screws. I don't think little kids would be able to break into it. I got a few of them to give to my nephews with a riddle to get their Christmas money. It will work for that. They will probably use it to hide drugs later in life 😳😐They are well made and heavy. Good for the price of $40

Perfect just like the real thing
This is a very unique product and a must have for escape room owners. It will mentally challenge you and your whole group inside an escape room. Love the details and the size. Just perfect.

Fun for any puzzle solver
The person I gifted this to loves it. It's not the highest quality compared to other gold or metal cryptex made in the same design, but for the price, it's definitely a bargain. It makes a great gift for a teenager/young adult, or anyone that will have fun with it, but isn't expecting a Grade A item.

Plus a bonus
It's really awesome. It doesn't say this, so don't quote me, but it came with a special edition, two disc dvd of Da Vinci Code. It also came in a really cool looking box, sadly the box didn't arrive in the best of shapes, but it was more than awesome. I'm very glad a got it and I can't wait for my sister to open her Christmas gift!
