Helps with sleep and mood
I take two every night an I sleep so much better. I was suffering from sleep issues tied to perimenopause, so if that is something you have, these may be a key to a better night's sleep.

In this case, used as a source of serotonin - deficiency of which was causing constipation; but, yes, it does also promote sleep
I am not using it for relaxation - in fact I slightly dislike its soporific effect, and hope this will diminish with use. I switched from 5-HTP to L-Tryptophan, because one should not take 5-HTP for more than 8 (maybe 12) weeks maximum, as doing so will deplete dopamine (after which the 5-HTP is also no longer effective). I was using 5-HTP as a natural prokinetic, though I know it is touted as an aid to sleep/relaxation, as is L-Tryptophan. My problem was lack of intestinal peristalsis and ensuing constipation, both in relation to SIBO-C. 100mg of 5-HTP each night provided me with peristalsis/normal bowel movements, because one's body makes serotonin of 5-HTP, and 85-90% of the body's serotonin is used in the gut for peristalsis. Tryptophan can also be converted, by the body, into serotonin (though it can also be made into other things, such as niacin). My hope was that 1500mg L-Tryptophan, nightly, might be an adequate replacement for the 500mg 5-HTP, relative to maintaining intestinal peristalsis & correcting constipation due to lack of peristalsis. 30 days into the experiment, it does seem to be working.

Great substitute for seroquil.
I was on seroquil for almost a year. Due ti expe ses, it came between food and meds. I switched to this as it was a recommended OTV herbal supplement. It has done wonders. I take mine in the AM and gain clarity, mood stability, calmness, focus, and happy. I take melatonin 5-10 MG at night to sleep. This can be take at night and will assist but I found it is better for me to take in the morning and melatonin or sleep aide at night.

Best L-Tryptophan I've ever taken
Best L-Tryptophan I've ever taken. I've tried several brands including Vitamin Shoppe and others and they pale in comparison to Jarrow's. For the past 2 weeks I've beenwaking up several times a night and having a lot of trouble falling back asleep. Last night I took Jarrow instead of the other brands I have and not only did I fall asleep fast but I stayed asleep. I'm so happy I have my Jarrow Formula L-Tryptophan again!!! I'm going to throw away my other bottles from the other brands.

Not as expected.
I wanted to get a more restfulful sleep, but these did absolutly nothing. I was told to take 500mg. per 100lbs. body weight. I took 2 half hour before bedtime. Total waste of money.

I wanted to try something that didn’t have melatonin after learning it wasn’t good having so much of it. This works just as well!

These are kind of hit or miss. Some nights they help me sleep and other nights they do not help at all .
