Lip ointment that feels very gentle and soothing.
I ordered this moisturizing balm to use on my lips. While I don't usually have chapped lips, they are often dry. I often use vaseline, and this has a bit thicker texture, possibly from the lanolin. If you've used lanolin as a new mom, you know that stuff is super thick. So imagine that blended with vaseline with a texture in between. It felt as gentle as Vaseline, and I would recommend it over any chapstick you can buy at the grocery store. From the description on the back of the jar, this balm seems like it can be used as a small would barrier as well. I also noticed that it contains lysine. I know what lysine is because I adopted a cat that has FVR (kitty herpes). It helps boost his immune system when he has flare-ups. So, with that said, this balm/ointment may help soothe the lips if you get cold sores.Pro:-Gentle. I didn't feel any burning chemicals or added fragrance that may irritate dry lips/skin.-Texture. A bit thicker than most chapsticks. I like the thickness. It feels more soothing and more of a barrier.Con-Includes paraffins. Some people avoid them. I think more information about the parrifins used may be more reassuring.-It's a minor thing, but the directions on the back actually gave me pause. I think I initially misunderstood them and they made me warry. I was surprised the directions didn't mention applying it to the lips, since it seems to be marketed mostly as a lip ointment. This gave me pause about whether it was meant for the lips. Then, it says "wash hands thoroughly after using." That made me weary... because I started thinking, OMG, did I just put something on my lips, as in, next to my mouth, that needs to be washed immediately from the hands after applying?!?! So that freaked me out, ha! But after mulling it over for a day, I think they are talking about not spreading germs if you rub it over a wound. I think the manufacturer may want to clarify or reword that :)Overall, feels really good on dry lips and soothing, but jury is out after reading the directions on whether it should be used on the lips.

Best lip treatment I've tried!
I try many different skincare items and it takes a lot for me to fall head over heels for a product, but here we are! It's currently 10am, and I last applied this lip ointment at 11pm the night before. I've slept, eaten breakfast and had a beverage--this is still on my lips! Is it on as thick as the initial application? No, but when I touch my lips I can still feel the emollience and softness. And the flaking from the night before? Gone. The top three ingredients work together to occlude/prevent moisture from escaping the lips, and they also nourish the lips as well. Say what you will about petrolatum and paraffin, but as cosmetic ingredients they both protect and endure, which is why hours later my lips are still soft. In addition there is lanolin here--another wonderful ingredient for the lips--and if there is much of a smell, for me, it's from the lanolin, but that doesn't bother me as it's minimal. In terms of texture, this is a firmer-feeling balm, and I need to swirl my finger around in the pot a bit to warm it up so that it's soft enough to apply. With other products, you may not have to make this sort of effort but there's also constant reapplication and I'd rather just apply and be done. There is a very slight tingle when I first apply this, and that's likely the menthol, which I personally find soothing. Lastly the size is quite generous--it make look small, but half an ounce of lip product goes a long way!If you have chronically dry lips as I do, a product like this is a blessing because it works, it's affordable, and I don't have to constantly reapply!

Great to have on hand , travel, beach, cold, sickness lips soothing ointment.
This E.Burnham Simply Soothing Lysine Lip Ointment comes in a little plastic screw on tub . I like it but I really wish they had this is stick form , that would be awesome. This somewhat brownish, thick, waxy ointment feels cooling on the lips, even if they are only chapped and dry. I noticed the soothing action right away. This will have to go with me on the road, planes , I always feel so dried out and unfortunately sometimes get sick on a plane too. Or I simply overdo the beach and get a sore. I am out in the cold too long, wow , burn 🔥I wanna be proactive , so far all is well, my lips do fine. I use it once a day and before I go sunbathing,The lysine will hopefully fortify a bit so that painful blisters or extreme dryness doesn’t start in the first place. This should last a while , a little goes a long way. Not a big fan of having to use my finger to apply, I think a stick is more hygienic.Works to relieve and soothe dry ,chapped lips before ,during and after a cold sores or burns .So far I haven’t had one , if this product is a miracle should I suffer a cold sore I will update. I think for the price and coming from a small US company it’s a product that is soothing , especially for those who are not fans of highly flavored treatments . I like that this is a made in the USA and not too pricey.

Better for my cuticles than my lips
I’ve never tried a lysine product before, so I was curious to test out this E. Burnham ointment. I experimented with it for four days. I didn’t love it as a lip balm/lip mask, the texture is just too thick and heavy for my personal preference. However, I’ve found it works nicely as a cuticle cream and for smoothing rough or dry areas, especially on my elbows. To me, the scent is all lanolin, but it’s not strong. Just something to note if you’re sensitive to scents or not a fan of the natural smell of lanolin.Overall, I think this is a useful, multi purpose ointment for dry areas other than my lips. A little goes a long way, so this jar should last quite a while.
