Praxinoscope similar to the Zoetrope as seen in the 2012 Film, opening sequence: Mirror Mirror. The images are reflected in the central prism of mirrors. The number of mirrors is 12 which is equal to the number illustrations on a strip, and the images are seen are reflected in the mirrors. When the cylinder is turned manually, a rapid succession of images are reflected in the opposite mirror and seem to move. The praxinoscope was patented by the frenchman Emile Reynaud in 1877. Includes 20 animation strips.

Pretty but fragile
Aesthetically pleasing, however its hard to get it to spin the right speed and the glue gave way on the mirror section so I had to re glue it. Pretty but not as good as I had hoped for the cost.

A beautiful object.
The praxinoscope is for a very old friend who is an artist. I wanted something unusual and interesting. This is it - pure Victoriana, metal and mirrors, and the animation works fabulously.
