Worth the money
I was very skeptical of this skimmer but for the price I figured I'd give it a shot. Much to my surprise it works great! Limewood it comes with is also very sufficient to produce enough bubbles to skim. Made some modifications (cut a few of the pieces off the outside to fit it in my Hang-on-back refugium). Took a little tinkering to get it dialed in but that's the case with most protein skimmers. I had a $20 Petco air pump on it at first which worked fine but I upgraded to a Tetra Whisper 100 so I could run a DIY Carbon scrubber in line with the air feed to help buffer my PH. Very happy with my purchase.

Absolute trash!
I’ve been in charge of an aquaria facility for a major university and have kept fish as a hobby for decades. I bought this for a 29 gallon tank I set up in my 7 year old daughters room as a reward for doing well in school over the covid pandemic. It’s complete crap! I’m not gonna go any further than that because it’s be even more of a waste of my time. This review is simply my attempt at saving people from thinking as I did, “Oh that’s cheap. Let me give it a try.”

Crappy Product
Would not work like it should. Had problems with it staying attached to the side of the aquarium. Save your money and just buy Fluval Protein Skimmer.

Good Product! Great bang for the buck on this! The drawback with this Protein Skimmer unit is ...
4 star product considering the price.I have a 55 gal saltwater tank. I did change the wood air diffuser to a Lee’s brand, 1 or 2” air diffuser, which you can also buy from Amazon. The original air diffuser that came with the unit is not efficient in creating bubble. It went straight to the garbage. The drawback with this Protein Skimmer unit is that :1) There are 2 sets of Black rubber suction pads to stick the unit to the aquarium. Do not use the small set of 2. It keeps disengaging the unit from being held to the aquarium tank. USE THE BIGGER SUCTION PADS. IT WILL BE AN EFFORT THOUGH TO SLIDE THIS INTO PLACE. GET SOMEONE TO WORK WITH YOU TO GET THIS DONE. . My protein skimmer unit has been kept in place since.2) Second drawback is on the protein collection cup. There will be a never ending step of emptying this cup which is a nuisance. There is a small opening on the cup where you can attach a regular 1/4” transparent air aquariim hose. The hole was a bit bigger than the 1/4 “ so I initially wrapped the hose end with Plumbers tape until it was snug fit to the hole. The dropped the other end to an empty 2 liter coke bottle . This allowed me to drain the collected protein into the empty bottle. I will emply the coke bottle when its full. You will see that the protein water collected is murky, and the aquarium water cleaner.Word of advise: Remember to empty the coke bottle when its due.If you can run a whole length of the plastic hose to a regular house drain, do it. Then you dont have to worry about emptying the bottle.I rarely write long reviews like this. If youre having second thoughts about buying this cheap skimmer, i also did but I can say now, I’m very happy with this purchase. I hope this review helps .

Cheap and good -
At first, I didn't trust it since its airstone power, but after adjusting my airstone line and making it bubble more. It started to do its work two weeks after, and now it keeps my aquarium clean, and I have to replace the brown water every two days.

worked great after I modded it with a piece of pvc.
it's pretty crappy even for a starter skimmer but if you attach several inches of pvc to the bottom to extend it and poke some holes for outflow it's not bad at all.

Not worth $20 bucks
I chose this skimmer because of it’s size and that is the only thing that worked. The air block was broken so no tiny air bubbles to trap protein in foam and only one suction cup holds in place, the other looses suction after a minute or so.

Great for the price.
I feel I may be stretching the capacity of this little skimmer with my 36 Gallon Bow front aquarium (with an additional 5 gallons in the sump). But it sure seems to work very well. I tried the reef glass style for about a year, and I had a problem with the tubing constantly getting clogged until I gave up and decided to try something else. Yes I am cheap. But sometimes, the cheap stuff can surprise you.
