is this compatible on acer aspire 5 ??

Well, the Acer Aspire 5 specs show an available 2.5 inch SATA hard drive bay so, yes, the Addlink S20 should work fine in this laptop. Of course, you'll probably have to remove the laptop bottom in order to access the drive bay. You should look up an Acer service manual for your model to see how that's done.

Is there any reason to get this when crucial mx500s & wd blues are going for about the same and have, ssd toolkits & 5yr us warranties?

If you can get an MX500 1TB for the same price as the Addlink get it. Otherwise the Addlink is a pretty fast and cheap SSD.

Does the S20 come with a spacer to fit a 9.5mm enclosure?

Hi! No, S20 and S50 MLC models don't come with 7mm to 9.5 mm adapter, but S10 model does. Pls, check this page: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073CQMF6Y/ref=twister_B07D6QNG11?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
