A Big Help Along The Way To Rediscovery
I am currently in the process of unlearning much of what I have been taught in my faith walk and rediscovering God for myself. I understand now how much church dogma and doctrines have clouded my spiritual vision and have been stumbling blocks impeding my progress. The author bares his soul in telling his story and experience at the hand of church folks, probably some of whom meant well. I am discerning what parts of his story pertain to my journey and I look forward to a landing made safer for having read this book. ~ G.L.Smith

A must read for those struggling with their faith
I found encouragement and a way through to help me on my own journey of leaving church. Too often I equated religion--reading the Bible, going to church, and praying--with the "true" way to be a Christian. Reading Dan's journey shows another path to a deeper, richer, and more expansive faith where God can be experienced in the ordinary moments of life. The book sifts through all the conflicting messages and shines a light on what is often a dim path for those seeking the truth.

Dan is an absolute delight!
Great book written by someone in the Christian trenches who has walked the walk of doubt and faith. Entertaining and real; do yourself a favor and buy it, read it and ponder deeply:) A true joy by an authentic human anyone can connect with.

For all seeking a humane faith
If you profess, are studying, or just trying to understand Christianity this is definitely a must-read book. I first learned of Dan through a Digest I subscribe to and upon learning of Leaving Church Finding God I immediately ordered the book as well as getting the Kindle version, because I couldn’t wait to start reading. And I have been truly rewarded.I was raised in a Christian home and environment and have always been part of a church family. But I have been aware for some time that 99.99% of us who call ourselves Christian do NOT have it 100% correct. Mr. Foster does an excellent job of evaluating, explaining, and providing alternatives to steer us back toward the right direction. I can picture Jesus shaking his head in disappointment at Christian's efforts but giving a wink and a thank you to Dan for this book.

Could Not Put It Down
This was one of those books that I just could not put down. I connected with the author in a way that it seems like it was me writing the book. If you are having any questions or doubts about the institutional church or some of the things the Christian religion has taught you over the years, then this book is for you. The author makes things so clear and understandable, and puts to rest any feeling you may have of losing your faith because of the way you feel. This book is interesting, information, uplifting and encouraging. It is an easy read and you will come away feeling much better about yourself even with the doubts and questions you may be asking. If you are deconstructing your faith or have serious questions about the church system, I highly recommend reading this book. You will come away feeling much better.

Peace without organized church
Are you weary from trying your best to be a "good Christian?" There is a way to be at peace without attending a formal church. This book is perfect for those who are deconstructing their faith model, and who became an exvangelical and a Progressive Christian. You will be challenged to faithfully stay with Jesus and love like He does, while discarding unnecessary rules and over-busyness. Warning: reading this book may make you less like other Christians, and more like Jesus!
