The jar, cloth top, scraper and stick-on thermometer are great but the starter yeast failed to work. I've been making sourdough starter and breads for decades but recently had my started die when on a trip. Thought this would be a good way to restart my starter. Wrong. Everything else is excellent, but just toss the yeast packet and plan on using a traditional method to get your starter going.

Love the large mason jar and the elastic band day marker.Comes with instructions on how to start sourdough. The spatula is a little flimsy, but helpful to get in the corners to help mix up your dough. I didn’t find the thermometer sticker very helpful as it seemed to not be very accurate and ends up unsticking when you wash the jar. Great gift idea too. I’d give this to someone along with some starter as a great holiday gift idea.

The jar itself is nice but the cover did not fit over the jar at all. It doesn’t stretch at all and was sewn too tight so it was completely unusable. And either the cover or the band had a really strong smell to it that did not go away even after being aired out.

Began making my sourdough starter last year with this kit and still use it till this day. It simplifies making your own starter!

I like this kit. It has a large bottle, spatula, bread scraper, rubber bandther, mometer and a muslin cover. The muslin is sewn way too tight to fit on the jar. I wrote to the company and asked them to send me one that fit. They ignored my email. Thats why I gave them a 3. I am disappointed. It is a cheap item and weighs nothing to shio but it lets your sour dough breathe so it is a good item to have. So after posting this review they responded with a very nice letter. They apologized and offered me a full refund. They also let me know they are looking into other jar covers to make sure this was a one time incident.
