This book has totally changed the way i bake.
I bought this book for two reasons. I am trying to cut down on my refined sugar intake and my wife and 4 year old son both follow dairy and Gluten free diets. When the book first arrived i thought it looked beautiful but was initially worried about the plethora of ingredients i had never heard of. However because this is a long term dietary /lifestyle choice and NEED i decided to re stock my larder and invest in the ingredients. This was not cheap but a little goes a long way. I have already tried 10 full recipes ranging from the fudge to brownies, cakes, cookies, home made chocolate and bake free bars. I'm happy to say they have all been delicious and i am now a full convert to this way of baking. I've made the Chocolate Truffle Teff Brownies several times and everyone has commented on how delicious they are. This morning the chai-spiced oatmeal, currant, sultana and raisin cookies were a huge hit. I have also tried making some nut butters and nut milks which were also fascinating. If you invest in the ingredients, plan in advance and follow the recipes then this book is a real joy and will open up a whole new world of baking fun. Well done to Hen's Clean Cakes!

Totally inspiring!
So pleased I bought this book, I have also bought it for a friend and will be buying more for gifts. Once you get your cupboards stocked.. the recipes are easy to follow and the ones I have tried so far have all turn out beautifully, I am working my way through the book as it is so hard to decide which to do first as they are all so tempting. If you have not cooked with organic natural whole foods before you may find stocking up a bit of an expence initially, but you can always stock up one recepie at a time and soon your cupboads will be brimming with good healthy cooking ingredients and it won't be long before you want to bin your old produce to make room for all your new healthy ingredients. If you have been living on a lettuce leaf because you are so confused about what is healthy for you this is the book for you. Cook wonderful indulgent delights and enjoy them in the knowledge they are doing you good!I hope Henrietta will bring out another book aimed mainly at savoury dishes as the few she has put in this book are really scrumptious!

Clever recipes but expensive
I've not actually attempted to do any of the recipes yet, but looking at the ingredients it looks very expensive! My daughter has a severe cows milk allergy and coeliac disease so it's been interesting to find this book. There are lots of clever recipes in and it shows that you can have typical deserts and breads (and more unusual ones) without relying on shop bought free from stuff (that most of have lots of crazy ingredients in that I don't like the look of). But at the moment I might chose a few of the recipes to get us started. It's not easy on a budget though, but it's good to learn about new healthier ingredients.

Mouthwatering recipes with delectable photographs
This cookbook contains 75 recipes for all sorts of treats, mostly sweet but some savoury too. I will say that the title is slightly misleading, as the book isn't just about cakes. There are recipes to make your own chocolate truffles, brownies, bread, pies, muffins and biscuits too -- among other things. The book is clearly laid out in different sections, beginning with an introduction about the author and several pages listing alternatives to refined sugar, alternatives to dairy and alternatives to gluten. The author has also included the key ingredients that are necessary to make most of the recipes in this book, so you won't go to your store cupboard and find you're missing an ingredient. Many ingredients (such as coconut sugar) aren't readily available in every supermarket, but I've found that it's not too hard to track them down in good health food shops, online or in stores like Holland & Barrett.I notice that when I eat something I've made with wholefoods and unrefined sugars, it makes me feel a lot better than when I eat something made with refined sugar. I can really notice the difference -- I don't get that sugar rush which leaves me feeling tired and headachy. However, Henrietta Inman does note that although these recipes avoid highly processed, refined sugars, they should still be eaten in moderation. Just because something is more natural doesn't mean we can gorge ourselves on it without any consequences. As Ms Inman says: "although the natural sweeteners are unprocessed, they are still forms of sugar" (page 12).After these introductory sections which lay the ground for the recipes, there are six sections: All the cakes; Muffins, loaf cakes and breads; Biscuits (cookies), brownies and bars; Gorgeous tarts and scrumptious pies; Raw desserts; Chocolates, petit fours and little clean treats. So, as you can see, the book is very varied and covers all the baked goods and pâtisserie that you could possibly want! It's such a gorgeous book, with mouthwatering colour photographs and lovely presentation. I can't wait to try making the chocolate truffles -- they'd be a lovely gift if I didn't eat them first. This copy was provided to me free for review purposes, but I've already bought another copy to give as a birthday present to my sister. I highly recommend it!

Its a USA ingredients book
I have yet to try any recipes as I will need to convert any ingrediants to british ingredients. It certainly looks as if the recipes could be good if I can find them. I do wish they would make this plain when buying as it is a little frustrating. I will keep it as always live in hopes for good sugar free recipes.

Such an amazing book
Such an amazing book, I love the way she writes, it’s easy to understand and so informative. I’m learning so much about different grains and ingredients. A must for anyone wanting to learn more, she is so knowledgeable. Im a trained patisserie chef and this book offers a whole new perspective. The recipes are lovely too. I would 10/10 recommend and don’t get put off by any negative reviews. If you are a passionate baker wanting to learn about using seasonal, natural ingredients, then this is a must!

Amazing
I bought this for a friend who loved to bake but wanted more natural deserts. She loved the recipes and the fact that there were no complicated processes. In fact, most of them do not take long to make.

Have not had a chance to use this yet but it looks amazing! A few ingredients that I do not have readily on hand but I'm sure won't be hard to find. Glad to add it to collection.
