Deep writing, it takes some reflection and effort to glean the wisdom contained inside the writings. Well worth the time to read for the seeker of deeper spiritual pursuit.

Classic; glossary useful
A classic work and a pleasure to read, though I wouldn't be qualified to speak about the translation. It has a useful glossary at the start for some of her characteristic phrases.

Love is what we are meant to be.
I read a segment of Fr. Melnyk's translation of Julian of Norwich. This tea station is very clear and modern, allowing the reader to "hear" Julian, rather than trying to "figure out" what she is writing for us. It's sheer love having this book. I wish I could leave 6 stars!

punishing god who tallies up all of our faults and demands payback in horrible ways or wants man to suffer throughout life
I only recently became aware of this work by Julian of Norwich and wanted to get a copy that would be in clear modern English but also staying true to the author's intent, not the translator's. I believe this edition accomplishes both. Julian's thoughts come through clearly, presenting an image of God and His relationship to man that is completely different from the cruel, punishing god who tallies up all of our faults and demands payback in horrible ways or wants man to suffer throughout life. Julian's presentation is all about love and caring in marvelous ways. Her revelations have completely reset my ideas about religion, God, and life in general--all in more positive, happier ways. Thank you for this translation, Walter Melnyk!

A truly fine translation
I have several editions of this wonderful book but wanted this one translated by my fellow oblate in the Order of Julian. It is beautifully written and a great addition to the corpus od editions that are now available.

A peaceful book
I'm not sure what it was about this book, but it brought me peace to read it. Maybe it was the love of God that came through. The first half flew by but the second half lost that peaceful fee!ing and the pace slowed. Still I have many highlights throughout the book and plan to set it aside for a re-read in a few years.

What's not to like
Anything Julian is worth the time to read, Will does a wonderful job of taking Dame Julian's words and making them pertenant to our lives in teh 21st century.
