Hefty, a solid build.
Solid, a blade holder with good heft. All the moving parts are great. The 3 lock positions (full open, closed, and open to an angle) are solid with an audible click. The lock release pin could be a little larger on the push surface, but decent tolerances and a firm spring. No lateral slop in the hinge, the hinge also seems quite strong and there is no flex there during use. The movement is smooth opening and closing, doesn't fall open or closed. Blade change is easy. I've been quite pleased with it.

This impressed by a box knife?!
All I can say is wow! I sure am impressed. I have a microtech OTF, a kershaw and a tactical tanto fighting knife on me at all times pretty much, which I love them all. But this thing, upon the first touch, I was like blown away. It feels like a fixed blade. Its so solid. This feels like top dollar knife quality in a box knife. Makes my old Milwaukee Fastback seem like a kids toy. Well done Excel™ you made the worlds best box knife. Imagine if the 911 terrorists had these, we would all be speaking arabic.

excellent design!
I am quite pleased with this purchase. I didnt think I would bother writing a review but this blade has helped me so much at work. The finger hole allows for such leverage, precision, and comfort over the standard design. The blade lock to keep it closed is smart. The 2nd blade lock in the claw position is a must have when you need constant tip of the razor cutting. The 3rd and final standard lock position does what you expect. My only gripe is when you want to extend the razor out on the 2nd pin the blade can be pushed out of its holder by lightly pushing it down. But it does stay nice and snug when you keep the blade on its first pin. Overall I still give it 5 stars because it all works so well without extending the blade. Excellent purchase

Sturdy Heavyweight Folding Cutter
I was surprised at how substantial this box cutter/knife is. It is not a lightweight, "slip in your pocket and forget" sort of blade. But it works very well. The side button must be pressed to rotate the blade in or out. But is solid, fits my large hands well, and visually interesting. I keep a box cutter for daily tasks, finding them preferable to standard knives because the tasks are often the most damaging sort for a blade's edge. Replacing the utility blade on these is simple. And the blade that comes with it is quite sharp.I like the skeletonized style, but it is a bit misleading because you think this will be a light cutter and it is not. But regardless, I'm very happy with it and would buy it again. If you need a light personal box cutter that is the kind of "slip in your pocket and forget" variety, take a look at the Gerber EAB regular or light pocket knife. I will review the light version in a few days.

This is just fine!
This is just fine. I had to withdraw my previous review stating that it was double drilled on the lock. It isn't drilled evenly but it's working properly.I am happy with it. It's been tapped on a board repeatedly and not given way. That may sound stupid but I've always.ost lost a joint on my little finger from an entirely different knife lock giving way and folding on me cutting almost half way through the joint! And yes! It hurt! Lol

It's great looking but impossible to use one-handed
I love the look of the knife, it looks cool, feels good in hand, and feels very durable.I don't think I'll be keeping it though because of one flaw. It is very hard to open the knife.I very much need to open a knife quickly with one hand, and this knife just doesn't do that, which is kind of perplexing. It has a latch release button, which is obviously going to prevent accidental openings. Given that safety is handled by this feature, it should then be very easy to "flick" open. This thing is difficult to open even when I do have both hands free. My hands and fingers are much above average size, so whenever to have to try to pinch and minupulate something small (like the grip for opening this knife), it's difficult. So, like I said, it looks great, and maybe mine is just faulty, but it's just not functional for what I need.
