I love this indicator for my Ninja 300
The media could not be loaded. I love this indicator for my Ninja 300! I bought the "reactangle" + "green" options.Yes, there is a small delay before the digit updates, and it doesn't update while the clutch is being held, but those aren't the times that I need to check it. And it does work perfectly with clutchless up/down shifts. The only issue I had with it is the 7 Segment display not having any dimming. That makes it a little difficult to read the digits during the day/when well lit. The stickers it comes with are completely transparent over the LED segments; so they don't help at all with this problem. I fixed this by purchasing a smoke lens specifically for 7 Segment displays (pictures attached); you could probably also use the screen from an LED alarm clock, or old film or something, to the same effect. Once the display is filtered this indicator is -perfect-! Reasonably priced and functional. I just don't understand why the digit wasn't windowed, that's a very standard thing to do.

It’s Easy To Install, Bright And Priced Right
This is a great addition to the Vulcans with no indicator. Kawasaki has a few ports reserved on the bike for accessories (I believe 4). The one I used is under the seat. On the European models, this is where the restriction is, so you’d probably want to put it here too.I mounted it on the left side of the tach housing, putting the tape on the right side of the indicator. I ran the cable along the bottom of the gas tank where other cables were and back to the connector under the seat. I didn’t need to remove anything to install it other than the seat to access the connector.I was surprised how bright it is - very easy to read in the daytime. It reads the bike’s ECU, so there’s a small delay before it changes to your current gear. It will do so after you begin releasing the clutch. If you downshift several gears while keeping the clutch in until you come to a stop, it will display whatever gear you were in when you started downshifting, not 1st. When you release the clutch to start moving, it will then display 1. Neutral reads 0.Considering the ease of installation and the price this is selling for, I’d definitely recommend getting one. Most times I’m aware of what gear I’m in, but sometimes lose track, so that’s when this is handy. Also, sometimes I take off in 2nd gear. On the Vulcan, if you’re at a stop in 1st gear, you can’t shift to 2nd, only neutral, so I have to stop at 2nd gear when downshifting and stopping. That’s when this indicator will be helpful. Would buy again.

Great Plug-n-Play Gear Display
As noted installs perfectly as a plug-n-play accessory for my 2013 Ninja 300. I had to remove a little bit of the plastic to route the wires easily, but once installed it worked great. It does certainly have a delay when switching the gears up and down. You essentially have to switch gears and then release the clutch. That’s when it will show the gear you’re in. Overall I’m very pleased with the fact that it installed so easily and works great to tell you where you’re at.

Some fabricating required but no programming required
IDEA is the second company I bought a gear indicator from for my 2005 Ninja zx636. The first company sent me the wrong plug and when I used the diagnostic cap that was on my bike already it read L for learning and F for fail. It was defective so I returned it.I didnt want to spend $150 on a Healtech so I went with IDEA. Very fast shipping is a plus. Went to install it today and they also sent the wrong plug as you can see in the pictures. So once again I had to pull the pins out from their plug and insert them in the diagnostic cap of my bike.I temporarily attached it to my triple tree with a zip tie and went around the block just to see if it worked. IT WORKED!! as many have said there is about a 1 second lag after releasing the clutch before indicating the next gear but it works and so I can live with that!Cons: I realize now they just send it out with a universal plug that will most likely not fit your bike so you will have to swap the plug from theirs to the diagnostic cap on your bikes OEM plug.* 1 second delay of gear indication after releasing clutch.* NEUTRAL displays as 0 as oppose to N.PROS:* fairly priced* fast shipping* good wire length to route the install* BIGGEST PRO here I think is that there is no learning/programming like with other similar companies gear indicators. This TRULY is just plug it in and it will read immediately.* can also aid as a marker for adjusting your clutch catch point because while in neutral it will switch to display "1" as soon as you begin to let the clutch out.Overall I think this company is probably your best bet. Definitely better than the other similarly priced competition, packaged better too, and significantly less expensive than brands healthtech.I recommend.I'll give updates as I continue to use it. I am installing the Healtech Quickshifter next week so I will report back as to how it gets along with clutchless shifts.

Not as Good as I hoped.
As another reviewer pointed out, this indicator will only reflect a gear change once the clutch is released. So, if you pull the clutch and down shift as you are coming to a stop at a stop sign, the indicator will continue to show the gear you were in before the clutch was pulled. It is therefore entirely possible (and indeed common) for the indicator to say you are in third gear when you are in fact sitting still at a stop sign in first gear. This isn’t a huge problem, but it’s kind of lame.

2013 Ninja 1000 plug and play
Easy to install... literally plug and play for my 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. Got it out and there you go! In Neutral it reads 0 which makes sense to me. The only thing but not a major deal breaker is that there is a split second lag between changing the gear and the reading and it seems that you have to release the clutch completely to get the reading. Also I went with red screen and it looks like in the sun it is a bit less visible. Overall, a great product for the price!
