fit nicely and worked awesome for upgrading my rog ally to 2 tb of space

This item will work the the Asus ROG ally Z1. This one has a SSD slot that is facing down. This adaptor will change the orientation so a longer SSD with more memory will fit horizontally. I bought the Z1 extreme and that SSD slot is already horizontal. DOUBLE CHECK which version you have (the Z1 or the Z1X for extreme) so you are certain if you need this or not.

Part arrived similar to another review. That stated the card was outside of the antistatic bag upon arrival. I blame both Amazon and the seller for that, on the seller side for not sealing the product package. Otherwise board works as intended install took a matter of 10 minutes unscrewing six screws, then using a guitar pic or other plastic pry tool to pop the back lid off, peeling off the black adhesive cover over the heatsink, and SSD, removing the old drive, inserting the new adapter, installing your drive of choice and/or thermal pads if that is your preference. Close it back up. Screw everything back in, good to go. No type of back cover bulge, even with m gelid pads on either side of the SSD. It’s advisable to clone your drive before hand using an SSD enclosure if you have one on hand. That process is well documented on the internet as well as various relevant forum sites.

This thing fits pretty snug but it does fit, but unfourtunately that is the only thing that is good about it. I put it in my Rog Ally and the first one didn't work at all. So I contacted amazon and got a replacement, thinking its just a dud, itll be better next time. Well it sort of was. It worked great, I installed everything, did a fresh windows, updated my device, downloaded a few games, was happy. I screwed my case back together and it restarted my Ally. Booted to the bios and no storage detected. I fiddled with it a bit to get it to work, with no help. Save yourself the hassle and just buy a 2230 SSD, its not worth it to maybe save $30 on a 2280 ssd.

Definitely worth the money to upgrade your storage and super easy to install.

The board feels very thin and flimsy but has been working good the past several months without issue just make sure you have the proper SSD before buying and make sure you know how to properly know how to screw it down other wise you're ssd will bend.

Works as intended, be warned it is a bit difficult to get seated in the ROG, but once it's in it works perfectly. I recommend cutting the black shielding flap to go behind your m.2 to protect it from the heatsink. Be wary about Amazons packaging though, it's in a un-sealed anti-static bag and may fall out in transit, the first time I ordered the amz package arrived empty.

It mounts well, the only thing I needed to do was to remove one plastic post on the back cover to avoid pushing the long new ssd. And needed to add a plastic washer to the screw holding the sad to this board to give it more support, screw is too small and the drive slips out of it Once that was done, the Ally did not want to boot up....lol. I did not know that since the photo eye detected the case was open, it protects the circuitry and shuts power to the board, or something like that. Pluggin in the charger, resets this and the Ally is back to life....feeeww....

Works as intended. But just buy the ssd directly without converter.

Yep fit and finished quite well into the rog Ally works pretty much flawlessly I've only had it happen once but it can shift and disconnect the NVMe so I've since used a thermal pad on the SSD to fix it a bit better under pressure from the back cover of the rog Ally You will need to trim a few plastic pegs in the back cover you'll see some bugling Overall this unit work great

Want a bigger ssd in your rog ally but don’t wanna pay the price for a 2230? Buy this. It works. Super easy install too
