Im new to this
Ive always had a stand alone blue ray player .. Ive always had a normal dvd rewriter in my tower ,I purchased this drive due to upgrading the kids windows laptops to decent android tablets for christmas which are less bulky etc.1st Reason was to make digital copies of their hard copy bluray movies to be able to play on their android tablets via vlc player or similar because we gave found out over the years some of their favorites had been taken off netflix ( so we bought them)2nd reason was to also watch from my pc if i fancied as i have a few special collectors edition music limited editions in bluray high bit rate format..... I had a fright as i thought there was a problem as my pc could not play bluray .....this is not a bluray player but i did find programs that allow playback presumably by loading a buffer for playback. But anyway once i figure out a system of back up of stuff i want i can watch the digital copy

One of a select few!
Excellent, just what I've always wanted, mainly because there's only a few select drives that will do what I want the drive to do, and this one allows me to do it!

One of the best, but beware...!
This is arguably one of the best Blu-Ray writer units, but my experience over the past 2 years is a tale worth telling.I first bought this model thro' Amazon (with cables & Cyberlink software) in Oct 2018 for £125. It worked flawlessly for a little over a year, before I started to get a high proportion of failed 'written' discs. I assumed it was a faulty batch of Verbatim blanks, but in hindsight, it was not. After two years, the Blu-Ray functionality of the unit failed totally - it would not recognise/play BRs and definitely would not burn them, and I concluded that the BR laser had failed.I emailed LG (not realising it was the US site) and they replied saying that if I had purchased in the US they would permit me to exchange it for a reconditioned one for $50, but as I purchased it in the UK, I had to contact LG UK. Well, the unit is neither listed or supported at all in the UK, and they suggested I contact the seller via Amazon. The seller replied, suggesting that it was probably a Windows 10 issue and that I should reinstall the operating system. None of my investigations showed that this was the case, and after replying, I heard no more from them!Obviously, the only way to check my conclusion was to purchase another. It came today, and I have just installed it. It worked straight away. However, when I purchased it a second time (for a much lower price without cables or software), I made sure that I took advantage of Amazon's 3 year insurance policy (£5+). From what I have read Blu-Ray lasers are prone to relatively short lives, but at least having the insurance gives me some comfort.

Works w/ PS3 Games
I got this to be able to read my PS3 games on PC, the device works as intended. It's obviously loud but i'm using this externally so that will play a factor

Great for ripping discs, even just normal DVDs
I use this drive for ripping my DVDs, Blu-Rays (that I couldn't before I got this drive) and CDs. I don't have other Blu-Ray drives to compare it to but it's definitely a lot faster at reading and ripping any DVDs I throw at it. Give it a couple seconds after clicking it as a source in Handbrake and it's ready to encode, whereas before it usually took a couple minutes to discover all titles available on disc. Definitely worth the price, especially if it'll be used often.

It broke
When it worked it was fine but noisy. But it intermittently stops working, and now is faulty.Bought through Amazon but they say support via LG. LG just aren't responding to their own support form.
