it's pretty sturdy and i'm happy that my laptop doesn't rear ...
it's pretty sturdy and i'm happy that my laptop doesn't rear up it's fans to the highest anymore, the fans still go but not as bad as it was before so it's a improvement, i can sit the tray on my lap without burning my legs which is a big plus for me, before i was almost getting blisters on my legs from the heat.the fan blows out a slight cool breeze from underneath and the sides so i know it's doing something, they are quiet too, the cooling also keeps the air vents on the side of the laptop warm, before i couldn't touch it because it was so hot.the usb port at the back is upside down so when trying to charge something or plug any usb device in there you can't see anything :Sthe metal mesh holds the laptop sturdy enough i was surprised with that, the grips underneath the laptop holds it'self to the tray, sometimes it moves about and i have to adjust it back into position slightly.putting the tray with the laptop on the sofa caused a few issues, the usb cable at the back were pulled out and when i sat down the laptop moved about, a flat straight surface is more preferred for a tray like this.the lights are a big issue with the battery as another customer has mentioned, when the laptop is on battery charge and not on the mains it effects the battery in a big way, the battery drains much faster, the lights look nice in the dark but apart from that there should be a option to turn then off when using the laptop while on battery.in terms on weight and size, it adds a slight bulk to the laptop but i can still pick it up with my arm so it's not that bad.overall i'm happy with the cooling tray and i hope it keeps my laptop cool for a while.edit: just a update, after 5 months the fans have unfortunately stop working, i'm not sure if i am covered by a 12 month warranty i will contact the seller and find out.it's the wire connected at the back, the cable is loosing up and you have to bend the cable to get it working again, :(

Laptop cooling pad - prevents overheating.
Great way to keep your laptop cool while using on your lap. I got this at a great price during prime day, what I didn't know was that there was another model that is better than this one for the same price, luckily for me my wife purchased one for me as a surprise so I can compare the two, although I prefer the one that my wife purchased for me over this one.ProsPrice very goodThree nice sized cooling fansA metal meshGreat for different sized laptop "up to 17 inches"Very stableComfortable to useBlue LEDs (maybe not a pro but I like them lol)Very quiteSpins at 1200 RPMThe mesh allows the air to flow easilyRapidly removes heat generated by your laptop and it caseThe feet are adjustable with 2 height settingsHelps to keep your laptop at an ideal viewing or typing angleUse power from your laptops USB port so no external power neededExtra USB port so your not a port shortAnti slip rubber feetConsFan speed is setFan speed limited to 1200rpmPower switch looks and feels cheapCant use without led lights being onDoesn't have anti slide flaps to prevent your laptop slipping of the cooling pad (only makes a difference if you tilt the pas further for some reason, like getting of your chair for example)The one I like most is the"AVANTEK 15"-17" Ultra Slim Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad Cooler 3 Quiet Speed Adjustable Fans Laptop Chill Mat with Dual USB Ports and LED Lights, LC-173"Don't get me wrong this cooling pad is a well made item, it just lacks the bells and whistles of the other one, for the price difference I would go for the LC-173 every time, that said this item works well, does what it needs to do and does it well.

Crash bang wallop, there goes my laptop.
I wanted to like this really I did. The two fans are nearly inaudible which I really like. However there are a few things I don't like about this item which are listed here, followed by things I do like.1. You can't turn off the damn blue light. While I like the light the rest of my family don't, and hate having it in their eyeline bothering them while they try and watch tv, read, or chat, while I faff about on my laptop.2. The surface is as slippery as a sheet of ice and relies entirely on any rubberised pads your laptop might have underneath. As I have a stupid macbook the 'feet' are about as grippy as a pair of roller blades and more than once my laptop has plummeted to the floor when someone has passed my table and jiggled it a fraction. I'm not even joking about that it has literally slid off with no friction at all, and that while the stand is set at its most horizontal. Luckily the screen did not shatter, and it still works, however as a direct result of the slipperyness of the pad (and lack of grip on the laptop feet) the hinge does need tightening as the screen now flops about within about a 2cm parameter which it didn't before the falls. I've found a couple of lumps of blutac stop it slipping, but it does make it awkward to detach the laptop each time you want to move it without the cooler, and leaves messy little pieces of blutac stuck in the mesh, not even patting over it with the blutac will shift the grey shadow.3. As I mentioned, I have a stupid macbook which gets ridiculously hot when doing virtually nothing, this fan does stop the macbooks own fans having to kick in most of the time, however it doesn't really lower the temperature to what I would consider a reasonable one. I could still fry an egg on the keyboard near the qwerty line if I really wanted to destroy my laptop. In short I don't think the fans are as powerful as they could be.Things I like:1. As mentioned above, the quiet fans, you literally don't know they are on2. The usb power cable is completely detachable. I really appreciate this as my last two targus coolers had to be junked because the wire of the usb connection was very thin and broke both just behind the usb connector and where it left the chiller. The fact that this one is a proper usb connector and can be replaced if it breaks is a great selling point.3. I like the angle of the pad when fully extended/raised, it's firm and not wobbly in use, however you will need either nerves of steel or an investment in blutac to be sure your laptop won't be propelled unceremoniously to the floor.A lot of good points but for me one really bad one that kind of negates everything else. It's too damn slippery! It doesn't matter if it's quiet, or the angle is good, etc if it chucks your laptop on the floor if there is a small movement of air in the room. I don't like chill mats with prongs to keep the laptop in place as they get in the way of your wrists when writing, (if you touch type), just rubberise the damned surfaces why don't you. Simple and effective.

Quiet and efficient
I have a 17-inch laptop and it fits it perfectly. I have had 2 other makes of laptop cooler before this one and so far this is the one I have been happiest with. The two large fans do a much better job than the others I have used before due to the fans being better situated and there being two of them. I had a Belkin cooler before this and it was pretty much a waste of time because it had a small fan in the center and nowhere near the part of my laptop that tended to get hot, this, however, is not the case with the Avantek. Although it is not perfect it is a vast improvement on others. It has a quiet operation compared to my previous cooler too. I would have given it 5* if it wasn't for the fact that you have to switch it off via a switch at the back of it every time you have finished using it. It is much easier if you just have to unplug it from the USB port. What I like about this cooler is that my laptop feels secure on the pad. When I was using the Belkin it had a tendency to slip off. There are also two feet in the base if you wish to have the pad at a bit of a tilt or flat depending on your needs. Very Happy with it.

Happy with this laptop cooling fan
I like it, it works well and is very quiet. There are several things I like about this cooling fan pad. The USB port is unobtrusively in the back rather than the right side, so it does not get in the way of my right hand mouse work (hooray!).These 3 fans are REALLY quiet. I can only hear them when all is quiet in the night, and then only the faintest whisper of air flow. The fans also seem balanced and do not wobble when running. The metal mesh is sturdy and supports my laptop solidly. And I like the side air intake vents built into the cooler -I don't have to raise the back feet of the cooler to get good air intake; I am happiest with a flat keyboard for work.It gives out quite a lot of blue light, but I have bright light in my work area and I hardly notice it. The lights do not have a switch so are constantly on, which may be bothersome for some people who prefer to not have lights in their cooler fan. This is a good product. I would recommend.

Amazing, it... just sits there
Wasn't expecting much but wow, this is... something else.Firstly, I'm using it for a MacBook Pro Retina 15". Having it flat is completely useless; there is no difference, no improvement, except LOUDER noise. Having it raised up, quieter (obviously), fair enough, better airflow, ever so slightly... but it'd be nice if it was actually blowing my Mac. My Mac just slips off without support. Granted that the feet may not be great, but perhaps they weren't meant to be designed for staying still on hills. There needs to be either a support or a lower height (or even height adjustment). On the plus side, it feels and looks feeble but apparently it can support a lot of weight.I'd suggest something else, but I doubt these products would be any use at all. I can't imagine other similar products would be much better than this, so if you do insist on getting such product, then firstly, make sure your laptop won't slip off, secondly, make sure you're ok with noise similar to your internal fans going at a medium rpm. If you're ok with both then I guess, go ahead, get this.

as it felt the need to actively cool very frequently
The cooling this pad provides is definitely adequate to reduce the temperature of my laptop internals. I was having fan issues with my lapop - it was too loud, as it felt the need to actively cool very frequently. This pad has increased the air flow under the base considerably, and since the fan is quiter for much longer periods when I'm using the laptop. One of the cooling pad fans does make a slight noise (not sure if it's meant to be like this? ), but for me it's not enough to not use the product. It's built well and is stirdy, and has no problems holding my 15" Dell Inspiron 2015 at the maximum angle of elevation. Although if your laptop's "rubber feet" are mising, then the pad does not provide any more real grip..All in all, it definitely does the job for me. It's not the best cooling pad out there, but it certainly works and is of a high quality. The USB pass-through also works well! And for me, the LEDs look very Sci-Fi-esque. Good job!

Great Product, would get a 4.5 if possible.
Product is great, but has some very minor problems.Pros:- The fans run quietly, and offer a good amount of cooling.- Build quality is high, mostly metal, everything feels solid.- Looks good, while keeping functional.- Lightweight.- Extra USB port is well built, and company offers USB cable in box.Cons:- Fans can get noisy after extended use.- Alignment of fans is a bit odd, I tend to use the product "backwards" so that one fan can hit the upper left section of my laptop where my laptop fan (and most of the heat) is concentrated.- The product lights up with some snazzy blue LED's giving this product a cyberpunk edge. Although it's really cool looking, the LED's are bright when used in the dark, and often times when I'm lying down, I'll have LED lights blasting my eyes from the side grating on the cooling pad. It would be great if I could turn the lights off without the fan shutting off too. Oh well.
