Perfect Tutorial for learning Peter green
I bought this DVD hoping to emulate Peter Green. Though I sound nothing like him, I am just a beginner but these tutorials are explained note for note, even showing how to play Danny Kirwan parts of the song and Jeremy Spencer's slide guitar parts, so its definately worth the price. Unfortunately Peter Green is relatively unknown these days, but his songs are incredible, his tone is like liquid gold, and even his singing was phenomenal (I say was because he's lost his voice in the last 10 years). As Michael Caswell teaches, he explains certain techniques as well such as palm muting, hybrid picking and blues bends though obviously not as in depth as lick library's technique DVDs would but good enough for the purpose of the songs. The only drawback is there isn't more songs such as Need Your Love so Bad which he says he was considering doing, or even some of Peter Greens Bluesbreakers material.

Play me dem blues man
If,like me, you think that Peter Green was the greatest blues guitarist of all time, you should consider buying this DVD. It covers a selection of Green's finest songs and the lessons work through them phrase by phrase note by note with the intention of enabling you to reproduce them yourself. Although you are encouraged not to simply copy them slavishly but to interpret them yourself. The one downside to the DVD is that it can't compensate for a complete lack of talent on the part of the viewer. But I suppose that that was asking too much.

Mostly very good - but there may be a better alternative
On the plus side - the breakdown of licks is excellent, with every track broken down and featured in great detail. The examples and performances are played with great expertise and sensitivity - and clearly with a huge amount of respect for Peter Green.Still on the plus side - the camera angle is excellent for seeing where the fingers are placed on the fretboard. There is also a small box bottom right of the screen where you see a smaller view of what the right hand does. This is less useful for lead demos but is handy for rhythm where the different uses of up and down strokes are clearly seen.-------------------------------------------------BUT, on the down side - there is a total absence of simple fretboard diagrams which show chord shapes or 'boxes' for each lick. I've seen these on other tutors and they are invaluable for beginners and intermediate player. Neither is there any form of booklet insert with diagrams or tab. Also on the down side - it really helps if you are already familiar with both common and more unusual chord names as these are mentioned with some frequency.-------------------------------------------------So - on balance - this DVD is an excellent resource but there IS also a separate tutor available which comes with a book and TAB. Look for 'In Session with Peter Green: (Guitar Tab)'. I suggest you have a look at that product before you finally decide what to buy. It is on this Amazon website.

The greatest white blues guitarist
This DVD is great. The original line up of Fleetwood Mac for me was the best. It is however very difficult to hear all the guitar parts because they were so tight(together) as a band. Danny, Peter & Jeremy were bordering on telepathic. On intense tunes like Green Manalishi, all parts are shown & taught which I tried to hear from the cd but couldn't. It's only then we can really appreciate the pure magic of Peter Green penned songs. There were 3 lead guitarists playing complicated riffs & licks. If you want to learn to play Peter Greens stuff, this seems to be the only way, but teach you it will.

Learn to Play Peter Green
This item seems just perfect to me, it was just what I wanted to show me the techniques and style of a guitar hero of mine, the songs are all from a period in time when my hero was at his best. The early years of PETER GREEN. this shows how to play with emotion, not just how to play the notes but the techniques of using spaces between the notes. And best of all, bought at a price much cheaper than a brand new DVD in the shops

I like the way the songs are broken down to include ...
I like the way the songs are broken down to include Danny Kirwan parts & small guitar phrases which would not be picked up when trying to learn off the record

Excellent DVD
This video is well done. The instructor Michael Cassell does a good job of breaking down the parts and goes into great detail. I recommend this DVD.

Learn to play Peter Green

Trotzdem sehr empfehlenswert.

Wish they provided the tabs too.
The products is everything they advertise. It would be make the learning complete if they provided a printed tab or pdf file so we could print out the tabs. It is quite difficult and time consuming to properly write out the tabs using the correct notation.
