Cheap, seems good value - but let down by poor pressure gauge
Chose this particular pump on account of price and reasonable number of "balanced" reviews, suggesting it was cheap & cheerful but OK for light use.Good points:(a) Price - at around £6 somewhat less than similar offerings in shops and petrol stations near where I live(b) Size/weight - doesn't take up much space(c) Box is reasonably sturdy and can store pump + the assorted adaptors for airbeds, footballs etc.Not so good points:(a) Frame is made of quite thin steel and a little flimsy; need to ensure foot is central on pedal while pumping otherwise the thing rocks around a lot and could and easily topple over(b) Hose is a little short; only just reaches if the car happened to stop with the valve right at the top of the wheel(c) Valve connector is pretty tight; quite difficult to get off (but will probably "wear in")(d) Where the piston rod comes out of the base of the cylinder it is guided only by a stamped "flange" in the end cap (no bush or sleeve); the metal is pretty thin there so may wear out quite quickly...Bad point(a) The pressure gauge - on my pump it's rubbish; attach the pump to the tyre and it reads "about right" but start pumping and it shoots up by about 10p.s.i. above the tyre pressure and stays there (seems to "stick" at the highest pressure reached during that pumping "stroke"). It does slowly "come down" again towards the actual tyre pressure, but it's so erratic.I soon got brassed off and removed that gauge and replaced it with the 5 year old one taken from my old (broken) pump...So, I would agree with other reviews that it's "OK" - and at the price paid good value for money. But IMO check the behaviour of the pressure gauge (or disregard it and use a separate, "known good" one)

it's a footpump....
This unit is reasonably well made, very competitively priced. If you just have some motorbike tyres to top up once a week then this is fine, just make sure you don't rely solely on this units pressure gauge, experience tells me at this price it is unlikely to be accurate or consistent. However, if you have a) a lot of tyres to top up, b) are fanatical about checking tyres or c) are like my dad and insist on being kitted out with the very best "weapons" grade gadgets, (in which case get one of the chunky twin barrel, designed by NASA type footpumps), then spend more money. If you are on a budget and want the job done, this will be fine.

Foot pump
Disabled lady owner - needed for mobility scooter tyres - bought manual pump because others all seemed to need a car which I no longer have! Easy to use, strong, surprised at my own strength/force of pump - guage way off so now forced to ride with 2 offside wheels on road and 2 nearside (flat) on kerb!! Joking....Pump neat, handy, love it - but without the pressure guage? Not that helpful really but expecting that - all other reviews suggested same....still pl I bought it though....logistics I'll sort in time. Squirrel 59 - Sat 27.4.13

To pump with your foot means you exert quite a force on the is wee machineUnfortunately the structure ( not the cylinder, but the struts around it) are too flimsy and the whole thing has a tendency to buckle..or slope to one side. You can right it by bending it back by hand..but I worry this will weaken it further

A good pump maypole 783
Handy pump to have, been using it for a couple of days, it's a lot better than the old one I had which was heavier than a building brick, this one is light as a feather compared to my old one, also pumps more air so the job takes less effort very pleased so far a good buy, how long it will last that remains to be seen, I nearly forgot it comes with some adaptors which will come in handy, but it works well,I am happy with it.

A basic foot pump
It does the job. But it's such a tight fit onto the valve that it can be a struggle getting it off when you've finished blowing up the tyre - you can lose all of the air you've just put in while you wrestle with the pump!

Works fine but if your vehicle has large wheels and the valve is not close to the floor when you attempt to pump up, then the hose will not reach - unfortunately not long enough!
