Kids' Travel Guide to the Armor of God

Children's church

This book is the cornerstone of my children's program this winter. The guide is very flexible so I can take the games, art activities, prayer items, and story ideas and use them in our rotating series of center time room/bible classroom/active playroom and our teachers will have something that matches the Winter Memory Task each week so that in 3 months, they should not just have Eph 6:10-18 memorized, they should understand it and have enjoyed learning it. It has made my job WAY easier. --I'm even using their printable art pages (shrunk to 25%) in our Armor of God lap books!ONE regret I have is that none of it is on CD, so I have to scan and then print/email what I want to use. It would be awesome if it were digitized.

We needed something for in Children's Church for about 12 weeks to fill in between other curriculum. This is easy to follow, pretty teacher friendly, and has some "out of the box" things that weren't in our last curriculum, so that's a nice change for the kids. There's nothing especially original or fabulous about this book, but it's also got a low price, so that's great. Some of the lessons are a little too abstract I think, and not really "to the point" -- it seems like they beat around the armoured bush a little too much.Our children's church is ages 4-9 and has about 20-25 kids in it. This will work great for the time being and is certainly worth the investment for some of the smaller/mid-size churches out there!*** UPDATE: We've finished the book now, and I have to say, I was a little disappointed. Some of the activities seemed WAY too abstract for the kids, and kind of off base scripturally even. It was hard to see the connection between the Bible story of choice and the armor of God. It seemed like we spent way too much time off in some other part of the Bible and I wish we would have focused on Ephesians a bit more.

I really like this guide, but some of the activities get our kids so pumped up we can't get them settled back down. While this isn't a complete bad thing, it does disrupt the rest of the lesson.We have adjusted to just using the activities (and there are quite a few with each lesson), that we feel will keep our kid's attention, letting them have fun, but keeping them a bit calm.I recommend this. I will add that the verses used in the book are not KJV, so some of the handouts we did not copy to use as they were NIV (I believe).

Love this! I attend a small church and have kids in my class from all ages. It works perfectly! My teenagers aren’t too bored and my littles can keep up with the topic! I can’t wait to use others!!

Using this for kids church. Like it so far. Gives lots of options to do. And I like that it uses more scripture than most books.

I absolutely appreciate this book! It was perfect for my group of 16 girls in a Bible Fun class. The ideas are fun, easy and practical. It even tells you what to say to explain the lesson, not just what the lesson is about! I did have to modify some of the verses, due to a different Bible being used, but that was easy enough! FUN and creative!

All the travel guide books are excellent, I have only one more to buy to have the whole set. I started out with one book just to look over and loved it, so I ordered the some of the other topics. I am a director of children's ministry and these are great.

I bought this curriculum for a family camp where we have the kids during service time. I am very happy with the activities in there. I am only with the kids for five days so I have to condense and combine a few lessons but overall, I am really happy with the content and the versatility of the curriculum. It’s giving me plenty of content to work with.

Doing the armour of God with my kids group at the moment and found it hard to find any suitable resources to use for this, until I found this book.It has some really good ideas in it, however it focuses much more on the piece of armour than the actual point of the piece. For example we have just done the helmet of salvation. This book focused more on the idea of protecting our minds and thoughts than it did on the idea of salvation, something which I was obviously really keen to get across to our kids.In conclusion I would say this is a good book to look at for inspiration, but you will probably need to do a fair bit of work yourself.
