Broken Dolls: Deliverance

Seasoned Extreme Horror
For the past year, I have been on a search for the most effed book I could sink my teeth into in the extreme horror genre. Broken Dolls: Deliverance takes the cake and I do not think this bad boy will be easily trumped. As a heads up, do your research because this is not one for the weak as it is a vibrant example of Splatterpunk at its finest. Not only does this work have some of the most insanely brutal torture scenes and deaths I have ever come across, it is gorgeously written. There is a driving plot that unearths the tormented spirit of our main character through the duration of the novel. Mique's writing imprints a picture in the reader's mind that is not soon to be forgotten. It is beyond the scope of brutality, untamed, and unforgettable. One of my favorite books of all time!

Deliciously vile and queer
If you're looking for extreme horror that delivers on every content warning there is then you're in the right place! Broken Dolls: Deliverance is super gross and vomit inducing, but it has heart. It has a depth to it and it's without a doubt a QUEER horror story that will leave you feeling torn inside out. Absolutely loved this one!

Depraved and powerful!
Mique Watson is fast becoming one of my favorite authors! As much as this disgusted me, the characters were so compelling and so well written that I could not put this book down. Looking forward to seeing more of Mique's work come down the pipeline, and will be picking up a hard copy of this one soon.

Another amazing book by Mique Watson
I absolutely loved this book. Mique Watson is a master in this genre. A solid plot that is full of what we all expect from this author. Bloodbath 60 percent of the book and extreme body horror consistently. Pretty much no triggers go unpulled in this book. It is ROUGH!What actually surprised me is that I'm a straight male who usually has no problem reading books about homosexuals, but I usually don't relate to them. Not the way I related to the characters in this book. I was so emotionally attached to these characters and felt rollercoasters of emotions throughout the book as their friendship grew and fizzled out over and over again. I felt so sad and used up by the end of the book. I'm not one who usually needs time off after I read an especially mentally challenging story, but if I were that type of reader, this one would definitely require a palate cleanser or a few days to process. Very complex story that unravels itself in layers. 5 star book all day every day. If you haven't read it yet, you're wasting time!

Fantastic book!
My second read by Mique Watson and I’m blown away by the talent of this young writer. Not too many authors have the power to devastate me but Watson did just that with Deliverance. My heart broke for the main character Dane. There were a few times I had to put the book down because I could almost feel the physical and mental pain he was going through. That’s how good the writing is.There’s only a few books that have hurt me like this one: THE SUMMER I DIED by Ryan C. Thomas, THE GROOMER by John Athan and NO ONE RIDES FOR FREE by Judith Sonnet. These are seasoned horror writers and I think Watson is already writing at their level. Very good company indeed.Keep in mind before picking this one up that this is an extremely extreme horror novel. There’s triggers for almost everything so tread carefully.Easily a five star read and I can’t wait to read more of Watson’s work!

A well-done story with horrific depiction of extremehorror
I really felt for the main character and the relationship between Dane and Joe was so sweet and heartfelt. There is lot of triggers, but this is to be expected. The writing is really good, the plot is coherent and it keeps you invested all the way to the end.I would absolutely recommend for devoted extreme horror readers, absolutely not for beginners. Overall, his is a well-done story with horrific depiction of extreme tortures and mutilations.

Not for the meek!
Mique Watson continues to push the boundaries of horror with every new release. This one is not only horrific as hell, but it also shows us glimpses of heartfelt emotion that left me wanting more. Another bonafide hardcore horror hit!

Violence and gore on its height
The media could not be loaded. Everything about this book is disturbing and disgusting. The gore is on its height. Though I haven’t read so many extreme horror books but I must admit that the gore and violence in this book is extreme but it’s not all about it and there is more of the story and emotions which made me feel for the characters. Even though there are so many parts where I felt sick to stomach about the details of violence but still couldn’t drop the kindle. The story kept hooked to it till the end. Big fan of Mique Watson’s writing. About recommending this one, then no I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who can’t handle suffering and violence in a worst way possible. Otherwise if you’re into extreme horror stuff then sure, go for it.

The End of Level Boss of Splatterpunk?
Like most creative endeavours, death metal, bodybuilding, horror films, there exists the irrepressible need to outdo what has come before. Splatterpunk by its very nature is in no way different. Its reason for existing more or less is simply to push the envelope from what has been written before, but like the aforementioned pursuits, there is eventually a line that cannot be crossed, lest your music becomes white noise, your body no longer functions or you become a stale parody of yourself. In the case of Broken Dolls 2, the splatterpunk genre is taken to the absolute limit in terms of gruesome and perverse content and it lacks the clinical satire of say, American Psycho or the inherent humour and ridiculousness of most Edward Lee. There is zero light and no hope and on more than one occasion it threatens to collapse in on itself when it tries to push the envelope further than its gone before. Thankfully two things save it. One, it doesn't forget that at the end of the day, it's story which drives the work and holds things together and two, there is an emotional undercurrent which is both coherent and consistent which serves as a valuable counterpoint to the mayhem splattered all over the pages. This isn't an in name sequel only, there is a clear link to the first Broken Dolls (a novella I found a tad underdeveloped but certainly gripping and nasty enough to stay with you after you've finished it) but this by a clear margin is a step up in terms of creativity and storytelling. Where does the author or genre itself go from here I'm not sure, if something else as graphic has been written with as much coherence I'm yet to lay eyes on it but who knows....in any case, wouldn't recommend it to anyone not extremely familiar with the genre and for whom trigger warnings serve as motivational tools.
