Product Description The Rycote INV-7 HG MKIII is part of the InVision range of noise-reducing microphone shock-mounts designed for discreet, low-profile use for on-location sound. It is built to significantly reduce handling noise when on the end of a boom pole, but can also be mounted on floor, desk and suspended stands. The Duo-Lyre design means shotgun mics can be held from the rear, allowing full, unobstructed application of slip-on wind shielding solutions such as foams and Softies. Rycote Boom Shock Mounts are extremely robust and virtually unbreakable, as they do not use elastic or rubber components that are prone to wear and tear. There is a 3/8 inch thread on the underside of each mount for use with a boom pole, and they can also be attached to microphone stands using readily-available adapters where required. A soft grip is moulded into each mic clip, preventing any slipping or twisting and providing a secure grip on the mic. They are suitable for use with RODE, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Saramonic and a variety of other small condenser and shotgun mics. In 1969, Rycote introduced the world's first microphone windshield system for location sound and electronic news-gathering (ENG). Rycote has since been honoured with a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and continue to set the standard for professional microphone wind shielding and handling noise reduction. Rycote - Trusted by Professionals. Box Contains 1 x InVision Suspension1 x 3/8" male to 5/8" female thread adaptor.

Robust, light and can use with MOST mics (unusually)
Built robustly, with good clamping force on the screw hinge to ensure no movement.I use this with Shotgun microphones (probably 99% of all people's use case) - for this purpose, its fantastic and way better than the cheaper rubber band suspension ones.On the flip side the portion where the mic is placed, this mount is very flexible, so much so that I also use this mount for shock absorption on vocal microphones in live music recordings. I can verify that any typical Mic (handle) diameter size will fit. This includes Shure SM58 type mics all the way to chunky ones like the Earthworks SR314. Due to the nature of the flexible rubberised mic mount, it seems to flex along the entire length of the mount and fit snuggly. There is also enough space in the design to allow a velcro strap (like those cable tidy style ones) which can fit and secure the mic to provide additional peace of mind - though not really needed.I love using this as its very compact and light. More please!

Destroys the standard Rode mount
I'm new to dlsr film making and I purchased a Rode NTG2 to connect to a Sony PCM-M10 and took it away on my first full day video shoot, all I used was the standard rigid mount by Rode as I thought this would be fine. I had noticed during filming that if my headphone cable swung gently into the tripod legs, you could hear the clunk in the audio faintly. Some creaking of my tripod head when panning resonated right through to the mic and if I mistakenly touched the cable it would make a horrendous noise. I had thought that I would have been fine just being careful but every now and again I'd get caught out.I got back and immeditely went to buy those wire mounts but some reviews claimed that the bands ping off or snap and then I saw this and watched a Youtube vid on it and ordered it. It's a fair price but you get what you pay for. This handles serious abuse and has memory and bends back into shape. It holds the NTG2 tight and absorbs nearly everything, the best bit is the clamp at the bottom that holds the cable really tight to isolate the cable from there to the mic and take out all sound below the clamp. After shooting with this, I can be much more boisterous with my handling and know that sound is fine, such a relief after having to treat the rig with ultra care to avoid the tiniest sound appearing in my audio. It can be angled up or down and stays locked solid.

Well-built, handling noise significantly reduced
This is a fantastic product, which attaches very easily to the top of my boom pole. Although more expensive than some of the rubber band mounts, this one is much sturdier and the build quality is excellent. No matter what you do to it, the mount pops back to its original shape no problem. I'm using it with my Rode NTG-3 and it fits it perfectly, keeping it secure so that there is no risk that the microphone will slip out when holding it at awkward angles. Noise detected by the mic when handling the boom pole is also significantly reduced thanks to this shock mount.

Beats elastic
I previously owned a Rode SM5 shock mount which uses elastics. And the problem with the elastic is that it can't handle the extra weight of a battery powered pre-amp or wireless transmitter attached to the shotgun mic. Enter the Rycote. The shotgun mic feels solidly held in place along with the extras and the lyre is incredibly effective in removing vibrations. It's a good quality product made from durable plastic. Am upgrade I would recommend.

Does what's it supposed to do and more.
I'm using it with the Rode NTG2, a Rode boom and the Zoom H5 and it works perfectly. That little tilting grip you get with the Rode NTG2 is ok and works but it doesn't reduce handling noise at all, this does. What's really nice about this though it the cable grip, it really reduces the noise you get if the cable hits the boom. We don't even use ones this good at my university so I highly recommend it.

Good quality bit of kit
Good quality bit of kit, and significantly reduces unwanted noise from cable/stand vibrations. However, don't do what I did and push the mic into the clip (i.e. so the mic pushes the clamp apart), as this resulted in pulling some of the rubber away from the plastic. You need to slide the mic in long-ways - I really wish there was an instruction sheet to explain this!

Great, affordable shock mount
I user this microphone holder with my Rode NTG-3 mics. Rycote (www,rycote.com) makes some excellent products and this is one of them.Highly recommended is you use a mic that needs to be held firmly in place yet still be to take the shock of being knocked.

No More Elastic Bands to Go Missing!
This certainly trumps any of the suspension shockmounts that you would normally find on the market. No more losing elastic bands that ping off and break, this shockmount will outlast them all and save you a lot of hassle. I'm never going back to my old way!
